Chamber of Commerce seeks end to enhanced US jobless aid

https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/nation-world/chamber-of-commerce-enhanced-us-jobless-aid/507-457f29f3-a61c-4d03-81bb-1a12dfcbcece

US companies have added jobs for four straight months, but some employers complain that they can’t find workers, despite an elevated unemployment rate.

government aid is giving some recipients less incentive to look for work.

The business group said Friday that the supplemental unemployment benefit, part of the Biden administration’s efforts to support the pandemic-ravaged economy, results in about one in four recipients taking home more in unemployment pay than they earned when they were working.

I'm hearing from Stephanie Ruhle all morning (MSNBC) who seems for ending the expanded benefits because she's talked to a lot of business owners... Perhaps, she should talk to more unemployed people...

I think one of the issues that has not been considered much is that LOT of people caught COVID while unemployed... And, a signficant number of those people suffer from "long-haul COVID" symptoms, which is a REAL thing that I can attest to.

Maybe she should talk to people slaving away & not earning a living wage.

Long haulers are an issue too & I'm guessing it will take years for them to get SSDI approval, if ever.

On their workers.

They could just pay a living wage, pay taxes to provide things like day care and school after hours programs, etc.

But no,they prefer slaves.
