Mississippi needs Christian leadership to steward the state through the coming tribulations as Armageddon draws near, Secretary of State Michael Watson, the top elections official, announced at a prayer event alongside other state leaders today.
I believe we need Christian men and women in office today more than ever before. And if youre a believer, if youre a member of the church, you understand the signs of the times right now, Watson, the son of a pentecostal preacher from the Assembly of God denomination, said today. In the last few years, no more than ever before in the history of the church, we see the end times.
Watson made the comments during the Mississippi National Day of Prayer event at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The organizers behind the event are part of a national evangelical organization, the National Day of Prayer Task Force.
Seven Spheres of Influence
Todays event in Jackson included leaders from each of what the national task force describes as the seven centers of power it wants to influence: government, military, media and arts, business and commerce, education, church and family. In its press release announcing todays event, National Day of Prayer Mississippi called them the seven spheres of influence in our culture.

Apocalypticism has always been used to legitimize antidemocratic consolidations of power and violence. By saying the end is near it creates an artificial emergency by which the believers can claim their crimes and actions are necessary.

Apocalypticism is a minoritarian means of controlling political discourse and weaponizing reality, creating in opposition and rival interests an identity of pure supernatural evil, a force that must be suppressed and destroyed lest it end the world.
As so much of our current crisis, apocalypticism is about empirical, or objective information, and revelatory, or information given from higher consciousness. The latter is fascistic and benefits people searching to subvert democracy and human rights.
That is the Right.

(82,849 posts)Now, I know that you end times weasels like to say that no one knows the precise day, but you're pretty definite about the signs of the times. So when is all this supposed to go down, Michael? Within a month? A year? A decade? How about January 1, 2025? I don't want to wait too long for my money. I'll bet you a thousand dollars your prediction doesn't come true by then. What do you say?

(3,671 posts)So which is it? Does it depend on what church you go to? I wish they would get their stories straight. It's hard to get too worried about these things. Maybe I'll check in with them again next year.

(12,159 posts)I mean, if all you Kreestchuns are going to get sucked up into heaven in a few months, what's the point?
Better leave the voting to us heathens, so we can pass laws regulating the cars we'll be driving when you leave them behind and the weapons hoards you won't be able to take with you. By the way, please leave your homes in good condition since we'll be using them to house the homeless and set up vaccination centers, gay marriage chapels, abortion clinics, etc.

(12,480 posts)Is a fucking cult.
It's sexist, corrupt and obsessed with the end times. They have members all up in the govt.
They tried to give my ex and I ,and 8 other people the multi phasic personality inventory test in a group meeting.
Luckily I recognized some of the questions having taken that test in the hospital.
I spoke up and told them I am not taking a personality test used by psychiatrists for any church. I will not have my personality investigated by people who are not trained properly to read the results. Or could use it to try to control me.
Why are you using the mmpi? You are a church not a psychiatric hospital.
None of you are trained to give or interpret the test.
I suggest people be careful about responses to this test,or better yet don't take it.
So I got up balled up the papers tossed them in the trash and walked out. My ex did the same. A few others did the same and walked out with us.
Yet they think mental illness is demonic possession.
They fucked my head up. They'd try to kick demons out of people, and are so dramatic about it someone always runs to get a puke bowl.
Because apparently exorcism performed by religious hypocrite nut bags is gross enough to make people sick. The cult is fucking abusive manipulating and corrupted as fuck. It has connections to scientology and other dangerous cults.
I am so glad I never told those monsters I am transgendered.
Had not had my surgery back than.
Stay away from assemblies of god.
They nearly made me go psychotic. Thinking I was going to be left behind .
They are a manipulating,
controlling disgusting,
dangerous cult.

(21,771 posts)The Goddess Nuit, the Milky Way, would gaze into her reflection in the Mediterranean Sea and marvel at her own beauty.
Then Sophia, the Moon, appeared, and outshone the lights of Nuit.
Nuit, in jealously, gave Sophia a gift of a beautiful girdle.
When Sophia put it on, the girdle gradually tightened around her waist, causing her to shrink away to nothingness.
The seven travelers (planets) saw what was happening to Sophia, and all worked together to loosen the girdle and allow Sophia to come back to full form.
But as soon as the seven travelers moved away from Sophia, the girdle would tighten again, and she would shrink away to nothingness again, until the travelers came back and helped her again.

The governor read the Day of Prayer Proclamation that he issued yesterday. Then, he prayed.
We live in a nation that is in peril. We live in a nation that should be united but is oftentimes divided. Please give us the courage to stand up for you and for what we believe in, the governor said, his head bowed and his eyes closed.

There's something called objective reality. Scientists might debate their ever-evolving models of it, but they're expected to provide reproducible evidence to settle the matters.
And they otherwise get along quite well with each other until that happens.
The problems are caused by the schizophrenics who proclaim they experience something that nobody else can verify! Understand now? You're the cause of the division, governor!
Edit: Believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for all I care, but stop insisting that the rest of the world must share those beliefs for the sake of unity! It's not going to happen!
