Creeping up on 6 hours here shortly and feel pretty normal so far
Dang, where is the 'fingers crossed' emoji?
When does the misery kick in, normally?

(10,565 posts)A little fatigue. Thats it.
we can do it

(6,205 posts)like many others. Stay hydrated and exercise the arm that had the injection. When it came to the hydrating part I made sure the liquids I drank had electrolytes as well as regulate water.

(13,431 posts)I was exhausted during hours 24-36 but then it started to wane and I was pretty much back to 100% around the 48 hour mark.
The second Pfizer shot seems to induce fewer side effects from the people I know who have had it. Not sure what the difference is between the two.
Still, drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest and you should be fine, even if it takes an extra day.

(1,399 posts)It came on quickly, within 10-15 minutes or so. Before that all I had was a sore arm. You feel like youre on the verge of getting really sick but it doesnt pan out, an early trip to bed fixes a lot of it (Moderna)

(4,451 posts)nothing too bad but I did wake up in the middle of the night with a mild fever, 15 hours after getting jabbed, and then I felt like I had a bad cold for the next 2 days. That was pretty much it.

(55,019 posts)lasted about a night and part of next day. husband had sore arm again and we had no other side effects.

(13,618 posts)I wondered if i could make it to bed. If that's what some people experienced for in some cases a long time, it would be horrible.
Mine was Pfizer btw.

(7,400 posts)I think it's age-related. No immediate symptoms, but definite fatigue for a week. Pfizer for me.
Tonight is my two-week fully vaccinated mark. And I feel GREAT.

(11,923 posts)He said his arm hurt like a tetanus shot, but I was told by the nurse to stay hydrated and work my arm after I got home from shot #2. I had a few chills for a couple hours around 2am and was mildly sore the next day but nothing more. When I got home from the shot, I did a few push-ups when I got home and put away dishes in the upper cabinets.

(11,350 posts)I could maybe tell a little tiny soreness at site -- but that's really reaching for something.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)It didn't hurt if I did nothing with it but raising arm or applying pressure def. hurt a bit. Like a 2-3 on the pain scale.
This time I think the doctor was a bit better at giving shots, AND I came home and iced it for about 30 mins. Figure it can't hurt.
I felt fine after 1st one, no symptoms but the arm. We'll see what happens tho.
I have some work I really have to get done this weekend is why I'm stressing a bit.

(60,010 posts)Was fine for a few days, then suddenly unable to do anything, my legs felt like logs, took maximum effort to fall down on the bed. Zero appetite, zero interest in anything except plotting how to trek into the bathroom if needed.z
No fever, no tummy issues, no pain, simply could not move much, and the brain turned to mush.
4 days later, I started slowly feeling better. Took a week total to feel human again.
Shot 2 is in 2 weeks.......😯

(5,559 posts)Shot one had me very tired (borderline unable to function) starting about 6 hours after, that lasted about a day.

(15,586 posts)or in your case, tomorrow If you experience what I did, prepare to have zero energy, take a nap and veg all day. The following day I was fine.

(26,621 posts)a little more than 24 hours after the shot. Mine wasn't really that bad, but I got chills, and probably a bit of a fever, as well as some body aches and a minor headache. By the time I woke up the next day, I was pretty much feeling back to normal.
It really varies from person to person. I hope things go easy for you.
I now receive satellite radio broadcasts in my brain, so it's not all bad.

(1,604 posts)My wife and both daughters went in at the same time. I went home and slept for about four hours, was kind of low on energy for the next couple of days, My wife and one daughter had a sore arm, but no other real side effects, but the other daughter fell asleep for about four hours. We'll be getting shot two next week.

(205,865 posts)I've only known one person personally who had a reaction after Pfizer shot #2 and it was that she couldn't stay awake. With the Moderna, which I had, there were more and varied reactions. I felt fine until later that night and had to go to bed with severe chills which continued through the next day - and I felt pretty rotten the next day too, the chills continued along with nausea, though I have heard that others experienced slight fevers. But I was so relieved that I was finally able to get the vaccine that I was grateful - it was obviously working. And whatever reaction you have is not long lasting and it's sure better than the alternative. Just hang in there!

(13,571 posts)One shot.
The weird thing is that I currently have an infection in my foot and my podiatrist told me to let him know if I develop a fever (without him knowing I was about to get the shot).
I won't know which is causing the fever, if I get one.

Drink water, take Tylenol if necessary and move the arm around occasionally.

(54,436 posts)However, if you suddenly see Mike Lindell and Marjorie Greene sitting across from you, inviting you to attend a golf game in New Jersey for $25,000, scream for about ten seconds, drink a liter of water, call for your Mama, and don't leave your bed for ten hours. The symptoms should start to lessen by then.
If not, take two aspirin and call your doctor in the morning.
No, wait! I forgot. This is 2021. Call his answering machine, choose 4 for the first question, 2 for the second question, 1 for the third question, and answer "hell if I know!" to the fourth question. He'll call YOU in the morning, depending upon whether or not there is cell phone service in that part of Bermuda.

(11,949 posts)Slightly sore arm no worse then a tetanus shot for less than 24 hours. Otherwise nothing.
I chalk it up to the celebratory bourbon I had that night!
On edit. 2nd Pfizer 5 weeks ago. Ive been 3 weeks fully vaccinated.
Youll be fine. And safe from all Covid variants.

(7,510 posts)The mRNA to be reverse transcribed into DNA, for the DNA to become incorporated into the chromosomes, for the cells to begin making massive amounts of new mRNA, for massive amounts of resulting spike protein to flood your body causing a massive immune reaction resulting in total organ failure and death as part of the Bill Gates depopulation program.
Or so I've seen on the Internet!
Good luck.
(I got my shots in Feb/March. Slightly sore arm for a couple days each. Ready to go any day now...)

(32,086 posts)The "misery" part is grossly overblown, unless you have a very low tolerance for some possible discomfort. If you are going to have any sort of reaction, which most people don't, it will come any time between a few hours and a day or two. There is no "Hell." Just some tiredness, if that, and maybe some chills, joint aches, and a slight fever, and possibly a headache, for which you can Tylenol or whatever you usually take for it.
Mad_Machine76
(24,436 posts)All I can remember having is what felt like a slight fever (I couldnt find the thermometer) on Day 2 but it wasnt debilitating and dont recall anything else.

(32,725 posts)... but no temperature, nausea or anything else. I just took an aspirin and a long nap. It was all over in less than 24 hours.
It really wasn't bad, and I'm not even sure that the tiredness was caused by the vaccine, or maybe just my relief from anxiety.

(146,325 posts)A few, however, do have some symptoms. The vast majority, though, either have no symptoms or some mild fatigue and headache that goes away with some Tylenol.
Don't psyche yourself into having symptoms.

(1,956 posts)the first shot i had a headache and felt pukey with a sore arm. the second shot only a very sore arm. the second shot the lady reached for something on the desk and bent the needle while in my arm. So my arm was killing me for 2 days.

(14,856 posts)The feelings of fatigue and slight light-headedness hit me almost exactly 24 hours later. Then I checked my temperature again despite not feeling hot, and it was suddenly 101F.
Some people have aches too, but not me.
Edit: It wasn't that bad. I just felt fortunate to be at home where I could sleep.
