The GOP's suicide pact with Trump.

I believe the republican party is at a crossroad. They can either become the MAGA party, or they can be beaten by the MAGA party. Neither option is good, but one choice ends the GOP sooner.

Trump doesn't have a stranglehold on the GOP so much as he does their base voters. If republicans don't fall in line behind him he could start his own party – if only out of vanity – and take a big piece of those voters with him. And it's that selfish vanity that would end both of their parties by splitting the conservative vote.

The other option is to praise Dear Leader, entertain his every musing, amplify his every command, and follow him to an almost certain demise as the lunacy progresses.

One way is death by a thousand cuts, and the other option is to jump off a cliff.
The republican party has chosen to bleed to death.

...for years now. And somehow, it never happens. Even if they remain exactly what they are now--a MAGA party--they have an excellent chance of taking Congress in 2022, and the White House in 2024. With their electoral tricks, a corrupt Supreme Court, and a third of a nation totally batshit insane, there's no reason to think they're going to seriously be wounded by *anything*. The fascist wing of the GOP is clearly in the driver's seat, and I see nothing to knock them out coming down the road...and I wish to God I was wrong...

He got many more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016.

None of Biden’s major proposals, if they go through, will have any effect on people’s vote?

1. Biden's success in getting meaningful assistance packages through congress.
2. Evidence made public during the prosecution of the Jan. 6 traitors.

These will be the millstones around the neck of the GQP. At this point, I can't see any way the GQP can avoid either event happening.

Biden is a seasoned politician and former VP. He has as much political savvy and experience as Mitch or any other GQP pol who might try to thwart his agenda. I have confidence he will get a lot of programs in place before 2024. He really appears to be on an FDR inspired mission to save the country.

Once the evidence against the Jan 6 traitors, (Trump included,) begins to come out, either by leaks, open testimony or court proceedings, and Americans begin to hear how deep and treacherous the plot really was, a huge portion of those who decided to vote Trump in 2020 will either stay home, or vote Democratic.

The main thing we face as a challenge are the new anti-voting laws being passed in many red states. I still think most of those will fall to court rulings, even with their newly weighted SCOTUS.

My 2 cents.

They are essentially a non-party because they have no platform. To be a bone fide political party, you have to have a platform.

What they are is a group of people who see a way to bring fame and $$ to themselves. Gaetz and Greene are perfect examples, following the example of trump who requested donors send cash directly to him. They are rhetorical showmen. The “party” is more like a union, but without the comity.

They are a group who has learned how to exploit fear and hate in their rhetoric. Fear and hate are for what they stand and they don’t mind saying it.

I think of them simply as a negative force. They block anything that appropriates money to citizens because that is one less dollar for them to grift for themselves.

There are going to be two versions of republicans, whether trump and McConnell like it or not.

My wager would be that Liz Cheney would emerge as the leader and the conscience of the Republican Party and that she might be the Republican candidate for President.

Who knows? She might even become the first Lady President?

he's has near complete control of the Republicult right now. The only way he'll lose that control is when he's silenced by prison or his eventual passing. Until either of those events occur, nearly all career Republicult politicians will continue to live in fear of his vile utterances.
