Delta issues call for volunteers to clean the Atlanta airport lounge FOR FREE - NO PAY!

With air travel picking up again, Delta Air Lines is short on workers for its loyalty lounges—and it is asking employees to help out for free.

"Just come to the ATL airport for a few hours to help with cleaning, wiping tables, running food, restocking food buffets, etc," the airline asked in an email to salaried employees at its Atlanta headquarters.

The airline issued the call for "Peach Corps" volunteers after its usual contractor couldn't get enough workers for the Atlanta airport lounges, reports Bloomberg. The email said Delta's Sky Clubs are short of 115 workers.

In a statement, the airline said it had asked for volunteers to "help meet the rapid, recent increases in customer volumes." The employees, who will not receive any pay or other compensation for their work in the lounges, will be limited to three days per month

I wonder if they can do this in place of their job. I’d consider doing it for change of pace.

Is that the next review you know those hours which are logged may not be mentioned, but will sure make its way into the evaluation.

I would never volunteer for a corporation. Airlines got shitloads of tax breaks and ppp money they did not deserve..so fuck their request for slaves. FUCK THEM.

I volunteer my time for things that matter like helping out at food banks,Hearts and Ears(a drop in center for the mentally ill who are GBLT.)and the ASPCA.

slaving cleaning up for slobs and assholes in the lounge ,so a airline with shitloads of money can cut corners for profit? FUCK NO.

This is a giant corporation literally begging for charity. And they dare to criticize working people for accepting benefits.

Make their executives do it. Might do them some good to put in an honest day's work for the first time in decades.

the help needed at a realistic rate of pay.

Here's a story about a good boss. Some years back, my sons both worked at the local multiplex. One day the three of us went there to watch a movie, and the manager approached them and said, "Hey, I just got a shipment of supplies, can you help bring the stuff inside?" They both said yes and the next thing the manager said was, "Clock in." They were teenagers, and the carrying took maybe ten minutes, but he made sure they weren't working for free.

"You can come in on Sunday and make up the work you missed while you were gone.
Sorry, no pay for that either. Just don't forget about those TPS reports."
