More than 150 Republicans launch new political movement questioning Trump's role in GOP

A group of more than 150 Republicans, led by Donald Trump critics Evan McMullin and Miles Taylor, announced a new political movement that takes aim at former President Donald Trump's hold on the GOP and calls for a reform of the party.

The effort came hours after Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming was ousted from her Republican leadership position by her colleagues in the House for being outspoken about Trump's lie that the election was stolen from him, once again highlighting the former President's grip on the GOP and the challenge for the group's signers in seeking to reshape the party.

McMullin, who ran for president as an independent in 2016, and Taylor, who famously penned an anonymous book condemning the Trump administration, organized this effort and published a set of principles in the Deseret News on Thursday.

"Enough is enough and we need to offer a commonsense coalition for this country and a more unified alternative vision than what we're seeing from the present GOP, which has now become rotten to its core with its persistent attacks on our democracy," Taylor said on CNN's New Day Wednesday. "So our message is it's time to either reform or repeal the Republican Party."

Great but these people were already anti-Trump. I want to hear from more elected officials who've had an epiphany about Trump. Most of them still tie their fate to him thinking he's a viable leader.

1. Republican former officials have not had, and will not have an impact on Repubs in power.

We've seen this time and time again. They even ignore those who are still in office but are not running for another term. This movement means absolutely nothing to McQarthy and McQonnell.

Trumpsters will never, ever believe that groups motive is an honorable one.

They will concoct nothing but conspiracy theories to counter any kind of common sense reform of the party.

The Republican Party is now QAnon for the most part. It would be more productive for the Mitt Romney’s and Liz Cheney’s to make a clean break, and form their own party.

they may do some good. I know two Republicans who are appalled at Trumpism. I don't know that they'd ever vote for a Dem.

I applaud these people for their effort in eradicating shithole and his comrades and I find to somewhat uplifting that peeling off GOP members from his cult is worth it.

Sitting back and watching this blatant purging of Democracy is unacceptable. There will be other groups as well fighting republican's efforts in destroying this country.

elected republican congressional members will start actually listening to them. How many measures will the voters of Missouri pass on their own and the republican legislators still continue to ignore them and the other voters of Missouri? Again, I ask, where are the national organizations such as the ACLU and the national Democratic Party to help Missouri democrats overcome these voter suppression schemes?

50 years of anti government hyperbole and racist dog whistles have consequences. Dump is just the vehicle that neo nazis and neo confeds gravitated to. The party no longer belongs these people it belongs to the ugly rabble they helped create.
