Florida Officials Reportedly Steeling For A Trump Extradition Block By Gov. Ron DeSantis

Florida officials are preparing for possible interference by staunch Donald Trump ally Ron DeSantis, the state’s Republican governor, if New York City attempts to extradite the former president, Politico reported Thursday.

Palm Beach County law enforcement officials are “actively” preparing for the possibility that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. could indict Trump while the former president is living at his Mar-a-Lago resort, two high-ranking county sources told Politico Playbook.

Vance’s office has been investigating whether Trump and his businesses have committed banking and tax fraud. Trump’s tax records were finally turned over to Vance’s office in February after a protracted legal battle over access that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A key concern is that DeSantis could use Florida law to block extradition if charges are filed against Trump. Under state law, DeSantis could intervene and even investigate whether an indicted “person ought to be surrendered” to law enforcement from another state, Politico reports.

If they refuse extradition it can come back to bite them when they want someone extradited and appraently Florida has made plenty of requests.

Yeah, he keeps Trump out of jail, but what happens when people commit crimes in Florida and then flee to NY, and then NY reciprocates his actions

While I'd like to think justice is blind, no way will any other extradition either way be in jeopardy just because the former guy remains in limbo

Or to any of the other Trump golf courses or properties in other states outside the state of Florida.

Can we build a wall all across the Florida Border? There can be checkpoints for everyone else not an indicted Trump or Kushner.

You know, to keep Trumps out of the rest of America?

It's not like he's able to climb a wall or even climb a ladder.

So...

You know...

It's a thought.

SCOTUS has already ruled that federal courts can force governors to honor extraditon requests under the Extradition Clause of the US Constitution. No Florida law supercedes the Constitution.

Article IV, Section 2, Clause 2:
"A person charged in any state with treason, felony, or other crime, who shall flee from justice, and be found in another state, shall on demand of the executive authority of the state from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the state having jurisdiction of the crime."

Yes, there have been some court cases and the constitutional" question could again end up before the Supreme court.
This time, slavery and racism will not be central.
If a Governor refuses to extradite, the actual delivering up of the fugitive may fall to Interpol or "Dog".
