My question is: Who gave them the comments to read? They were acting as if they were under orders to downplay the January 6th insurrection?
Does that mean that is the Republican Party's official position?
It was really a disgraceful act.
Rep. Cicilline has announced that he may make a motion that they be censured for their damaging lies.
They did seem to be deliberate.

(2,636 posts)If they really felt that way, they would not have had to read ttheir statements with such halting delivery. Not a one of them sounded like they were familiar with the words they delivered.
Scripted fiction and wishful thinking.

(11,495 posts)trump is the "director" of this shit show, and he also writes the script. Just the normal everyday talking points he sends out to his cult!

(6,833 posts)Nor do they care what it means. They just want their own little piece of the charnel house and are willing to do ANYTHING to get it.

(12,429 posts)There used to be a regular meeting of so-called conservatives, on Wednesdays, I think, where Grover Norquist would hand out the talking points and everyone would appear on talking-heads programs saying the same thing.

(15,412 posts)What's up with that? Did they give them the script and say "here is how you "grow your brand" and get on Fox news"? Or were they just testing this new big lie with people no one knew to see if they could get some traction.
It was very strange.

(3,243 posts)The key point these January 6 deniers avoid is that there is provable intent. The people who broke the law that day (the ones they are now calling the "misfits" were admittedly acting on Trump's behalf to stop a democratic process with the hope of keeping Trump in power. "Stop The Steal" and "Save America" were slogans used by Trump and the mob that day. The mob's purpose was to thwart the democratic process. When a mob has such a purpose, it's an insurrection or coup. Just because the insurrection didn't succeed at that moment doesn't make it something else.

(21,889 posts)they don't give a sh*t if they are censured. hell, they didn't care when a president was impeached. It doesn't seem to damage them in any way at all.
with these republicans it's probably seen as a badge of honor. they are so f'ed up.
