https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/05/17/politics/us-investigates-second-case-mystery-syndrome-white-house/index.htmlCNN)Two White House officials were struck by a mysterious illness late last year -- including one who was passing through a gate onto the property -- newly revealed details that come as investigators are still struggling to determine who or what is behind these strange incidents.
Multiple sources tell CNN that the episodes affected two officials on the National Security Council in November 2020, one the day after the presidential election and one several weeks later. The cases are consistent with an inexplicable constellation of sensory experiences and physical symptoms that have sickened more than 100 US diplomats, spies and troops around the globe and have come to be known as "Havana Syndrome."
The intelligence community still isn't sure who is causing the strange array of nervous system symptoms, or if they can be definitively termed "attacks." Even the technology that might cause such an inconsistent set of symptoms is a matter of debate.

Good read ... and very upsetting. We need to start deporting Russians from the US.

(981 posts)First, this would be a very narrow beam of focused microwaves. The device could be made from scavenged parts out of any kitchen microwave. Yes, a tinfoil hat would probably work to prevent brain damage, but youd probably be mistaken for Marjorie Taylor Greene. This device could easily be mounted in a car or van and be almost impossible to track. One thing we could do is have our important personnel be outfitted with an audible microwave detector to warn if under attack. At least this would give people a heads up to seek cover in an area that would shield them from further harm. I would also postulate that such a device would have to be aimed like a gun as the power required to cover a large area would be prohibitive. The media claiming that they dont know what this is is total BS

(981 posts)The microwave gun shown in this video is very crude. A good engineer could produce a wave guide with much better range with a very narrow beam.

(37,331 posts)directed low frequency sound that would cause intestinal cramps and an urgent need to "go". When directed at rioters, everybody would want to go home and use the toilet. Maybe it was an urban legend.
Then there were narrow band frequencies in the ultra violet band that could be used to target specific types of bacteria and viruses.
During WWII there were cases of soldiers who would warm themselves by a radar antenna and later turn out to be sterile.
This is the sort of research the Nazis as well as Russia could undertake using "anti-social-elements" as subjects.

I'd almost zeroed in on the brown note part, but I discovered that playing "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've got love in my tummy" at a high volume had roughly the same effect, in addition to causing mild-to-severe nausea.
Science marches on.

(12,425 posts)IIRC, there was a report of this syndrome among U.S. embassy personnel in Moscow in the Soviet period. And the suspicion at the time was microwaves, not deliberately being used offensively but somehow as a spying technique.
