My niece is a server

and has asked her boss repeatedly to put her on the books so she can claim a tax return. She has a daughter and needs the money. Her boss has refused to put her on the books. Who does she contact to file a complaint?

Look for "wage theft" reporting. Is he paying her in cash?

overworked, and so they tend to focus on large employers ripping off a lot of people. But it's worth a try.

She's certainly not the only one, and he should pay up the back taxes. And go to jail.

right now. As restaurants re-open for inside service, they are having trouble getting employees to re-enter the job.

Tell your niece to start looking for a job in a nicer place with better pay and better tips. She shouldn't have any problem finding a better position.

but he has messed up her filing for taxes. She had believed he put her on the books awhile ago when she pressed him to do so
