They cannot take any more of the "sham".
The "Cyber Ninjas" came in with a bunch of incompetent conspiracy theorists who know little or nothing about running an audit. They have been counting for about a month now and are not even half-way thru the ballots. They have used ultraviolet lights in an attempt to find the ballots that were made with Chinese bamboo. Donald Trump has accused them of fraud, of destroying ballots in lock boxes, and of deleting files from the computer. None of what he said had an ounce of truth in it. They simply can't take it anymore.
Today, they broke with the Big Lie and the conspiracy theorists. They want them to shut down the sham "audit". It is making them look bad and the entire Republican Party is looking more stupid every day.
Not only that, Kevin McCarthy had done one of the quickest flip-flops in recent history in the last 24 hours. He helped with the negotiations on the January 6th Commission and today, he and Scalise were calling all the Republicans to let them know they need to vote against any creation of a 1/6 Commission. It appears they may have received a phone call of their own last night or this morning?
The AZ GOP is the canary in the coal mine for Republicans. They need to figure out a solution and they need to figure it out quickly. They vote tomorrow whether or not to form a bi-partisan Commission to investigate what happened on January 6th.
They want to hide it. They want to burn it. They want to sweep it under the rug. They want to deflect from the truth.
It appears that Elizabeth Cheney has messed up their story?

(14,837 posts)The gop is not disintegrating, it is purging the disloyal and will be back in a show of unity that would make the gestapo proud.
Anyone they can't bully, bribe or blackmail they will simply cast aside. They don't need dissenters. They have a plan to take power and the voting block will stick together.
It isn't based on policy or logic. It is based on fear and loathing.

(111,110 posts)Many Republicans, if AZ is any indication, are fed up with the Big Lie and are tired of the Big Game the Party has been playing with Donald Trump.
They are ready to stop the Big Lie.

(14,837 posts)Republicans only make up a max of 25% of registered voters, yet their candidates get close to 50% in every major election. The party apparati is actually very small.
It is the party (the officials who make up all the party committees and non-elected positions) itself that is being purged. They are casting out anyone who won't get in line. Are those cast outs bitter and complaining? Sure. But the emergent party will be united. And their voters will stick with them. It may look messy, but it really isn't.
Intra party politics has never been a really important function, except to the powerful.

(7,947 posts)Their own salivating droolers might be all for this, but clearly the majority of AZers aren't.

(9,197 posts)watermarks Trump had the army add to ballots so that legitimate ballots could be distinguished from the fakes. Or was that just a November conspiracy theory?

(17,636 posts)are outnumbered and are being marginalized; they are a dying breed. Trump is running the party and no Republicans have the guts to challenge him. If Trump were to disappear from the scene, Trumpism would remain. There are plenty willing to fill his shoes.
We are watching a slow motion Fascist takeover. The other side is willing to take their lies and guns to the streets. The only question is can they recruit and retain faster than we can? I think it is completely up in the air today.
The Republican leadership is willing to totally wreck the country in order to achieve total power. And if they can wreck the economy and destroy people's faith in our elections and government they will be successful. I think that that is their current goal. The worse things get, the better their position will be. It is easier to wreck than to build up......
We are on a slippery slope.
