Northwest lawmakers seek Boeing records to probe quality-control lapses
Two members of Congress from the Pacific Northwest said Tuesday they're seeking records from Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration to shed light on ongoing quality-control issues occurring at Boeing commercial aircraft factories in Washington state and South Carolina.
Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-OR), and Washington Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA), who chairs the aviation subcommittee, announced their request for records from the federal aviation safety regulator and the Chicago-based jet maker in a news release issued in Washington, D.C.
The lawmakers said the cumulation of ongoing issues keep "pointing to quality-control problems and the ability of the FAA to properly oversee both production facilities."
Boeing spokesman Bryan Watt confirmed the jet maker has been notified of the committee's research effort.
