So when's someone going to publish the headline, "1/6 House Republicans vote for 1/6 Commission"?

OP
Since there are 211 pukes in the House, and one did not vote, did not need the edit.

Is there some reason that you are appearing deliberately obtuse, and insulting, before coffee even?

(33,032 posts)8. Well, after the OP edit. . .

(33,032 posts)11. Before the edit, the OP said the fraction 35/175 is equal to the fraction 1/6
niyad
(113,344 posts)12. But I knew what was meant.
Ptah
(33,032 posts)13. You knew what was meant, not what was said?
Ptah
(33,032 posts)15. Got it. The fraction 1/5 equals the fraction 1/6.

(36,269 posts)6. Brain fart. It was 35 to 175, or 35 out of 210 PRESENT AND VOTING.
Can't let details ruin a good story.

(4,699 posts)7. I think they meant 35 for 175 against..210 total

(5,324 posts)2. There are 211 Republicans in the House. You'll need to shoot one before your amusing math works out.

And if one Republican representative disappeared, your expression "35/175" would really be written as the ratio "35:175" and should not be confused with the fraction "35/210".
35/210 = 1/6.

(113,344 posts)4. One did not vote

(113,344 posts)5. Very interesting

(17,444 posts)9. Total R's in house is 211
1/6 of 211 is 35.167
it looks like 1 R didn't vote (175+35=210)
