A billionaire, a working man, and an immigrant are all in a room with 100 cookies on the table. The billionaire takes 99 of them and then whispers to the working man, “That guy’s gonna steal your cookie.”

They never give away enough wealth helping people to the point they join the working class.

Why is that?

They think themselves special, even as they give others peanuts.

And we praise them like they are so generous.

The working class gives way more than the rich do.

What I'm comfortable asserting is that the system is immoral, and the existence of billionaires is immoral. Whether or not some or all of them are also lying and cheating is a secondary issue as far as I'm concerned.

Some most certainly are. Some aren’t. But numerous psychological studies show that vast wealth does rather nefarious things to the human psyche Things not particularly useful or healthy in a cooperative society.

This allegory is not about greed. It's about the time-tested technique of the wealthy setting the poor against one another.

But perhaps that analytic hurts your feelings as well.

Saying not all billionaires are greedy...simply impossible to be true. In order to become a billionaire you have to be greedy. Because starting a business that takes off would require many employees along the way or it would never have happened. The only way for the guy at the top to become a billionaire would be to take more and more and more of the pie as the company grew. While distributing less and less percentage wise to the employees along the way.

In many cases employees come up with ideas or intellectual property. Its totally up to the owner how to compensate. Lets say for example the employee's invention makes the company $200 million per year. Does the owner give the employee a decent percentage of that return? Or does he give the employee a $50000 one time bonus? Huge difference in attitude and wealth distribution.

Couldn't the Walmart clan be worth $10 billion instead of $210 billion? Sure, they could have distributed more and more shares of the company to employees over the last 40 years. They would still be super rich even with $10 billion.

Like Obama said, you did not build that alone. Any successful business requires the infrastructure of roads, police, military, educated work force that we all pay for. Thats why it is so horrible when large corporations skirt their taxes.....if not for the America tax payers paying for the American infrastructure, your company would have never gotten off the ground.

of what you have to say (probably north of 98%) I'm going to take the time to point out that it's kind of a simplified postcard -- of what is a fairly complex system (and set of ethos).

Yeah, bottom line .. the rich could just give it all away, or 'give it all back.' (and the owner/businessman could just 'share' all the profits) But then we'd be living in a very different world .... Right? And what happens when your neighbors decide that YOU have way too much stuff in your garage -- or your pantry?

Human beings kind of got off on this track of 'personal belongings' and property -- a fairly good stretch back .....

The reality is that it could all depend on the race and other background of the individuals.

If the billionaire was a minority and the working man was a trump supporting white guy and the immigrant was white they would react different than if the billionaire was white and the immigrant was non white.
