One thing I feel about Christ is that he was no aesthete.

His first miracle, water into wine, and not fill in the gap quality, but good wine. And at a wedding party. I think Christ would have danced with the bride and joked with the groom over a cup. Christ hung with fishermen, he's called the carpenter, and some say that he was not a carpenter but a mason. These are not guys who discuss the Torah or the Kabbalah all day, these are hard-working people who laugh and joke and complain and yell and Christ worked with and among them laughing, talking, yelling along with them. Because this Christ also took a whip and drove the money changers and commercial booths out of the Temple in real anger, who also stood to toe with Satan in the desert.
