(18,634 posts)He could be a senile babbling pile of mush and the MAGA Republicans would still gladly install him as premier dictator of the new American Kleptocracy.
Cults don't need their beloved leader to be sane or conscious.

If trump's legal problems don't overtake him and he's still alive and unstable, megats won't hesitate to kick him to the curb for a younger even more ruthless model.

(18,634 posts)Trump has been a news getting media star for decades.
It's going to be difficult to find a replacement even though the cult will be dying for a new leader to worship.

(9,155 posts)Trump will be in jail or dead soon (of natural causes, of course), precluding any further attempt by him to overthrow the democratically elected federal government.
What we've really got to be on guard about are his accomplices in Congress and in Statehouses all over the country.

(13,069 posts)There is a constant attempt to undermine our democracy. They failed last time, and are working on their mistakes like limiting voting, lying to the people about what democracy is, stacking the courts, and degrading the media. We are not taking this coup seriously enough.
When Trump is gone, they will get another, smarter puppet.

(11,564 posts)Backing him is one thing, trying to turn oneself into him is quite a different thing. I don't believe anyone could keep up the pretense indefinitely, and with the Dotard, his "act" isn't an act at all - it was *HIM*, right down to the core. Others may imitate, but he lives it, and is unable to be any other way.
