6. I feel for these legislators every day

I would never work with such miserable, uncooperative people as republicans.

I would not work with anyone who was brainwashed.

I would not work with someone who spouted off to my mailbox (!) and yelled at me in the hallways.

And I have just scratched the surface. First and foremost is that these people (in most cases) ran for office because they wanted to change things, to make things better. Republicans, even though they are the minority, have so altered the process that they can prevent any legislation that does that. Thus the objective of taking the job would be moot, at this point, and so why stick around? One can do good in a variety of capacities.
