Morning! ☕️

In the dead of night, the Texas Senate passed a bill that will effectively ban public school teachers from talking about racism, white supremacy or current events.

It already passed the House. On its way to be signed into law now.

"It's going to have a chilling effect on social studies and civics teachers across the state," said Democratic state Rep. James Talarico.

Republicans in the Texas House passed a bill Tuesday that effectively bans public school teachers from talking about racism, white supremacy or current news events.

The bill, which is being fast-tracked to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott to sign into law, states that social studies and civics teachers aren’t allowed to discuss the concept that “one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex,” or the idea that “an individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex.”

It also states that social studies and civics teachers “may not be compelled to discuss current events or widely debated and currently controversial issues of public policy or social affairs” as part of a course.

The legislation, which passed 79-65 almost entirely along party lines, doesn’t explicitly use the word “ban.” But it might as well.

and saying Hitler and Goebbels weren't such bad guys.

I guess I shouldn't say that. It may give Abbot an idea.

“ the idea behind Newspeak” is that, as language must become less expressive, the mind is more easily controlled. Through his creation and explanation of Newspeak, Orwell warns the reader that a government that creates the language and mandates how it is used can control the minds of its citizens.” Google 1984: Mind control.

14. In my 11th-grade American history class in East Texas in 1963,

we learned about the glories of the Confederacy, the horrors of Reconstruction, and the depredations of Carpetbaggers and Scalawags.

Why didn’t the Black students, as 40% of the population in our county, object to this curriculum?

Because they sat in a classroom a mile and a half from us in a building called “______ Colored High School.”

To this day I’ve never met any of those students, or found out what they learned about American history.

17. Racism, WHite SUpremacy, or CUrrent Events

Guess Racism and white supremacy are on display in many of today's "Current Events." They admit it.

Current events used to be about getting kids to take an interest in the larger world. Summarizing and connecting ideas is actually a learning strategy.

They don't want to ban hate speech, racist speech, or white supremacist groups or ideology. They don't want teachers to discuss ongoing, current racism that the kids bring up.

This demographic change whereby whites are a plurality but not a majority has been long trending, and the mediocre and below average white racists are exploding. Nothing is happening to them. Nothing is being taken from them. They are upset because they know they can't complete if the filed is level, and they can't shoot the more talented, more intelligent, better qualified, harder working black people. Fuck their racist little hate filled hearts.

So far NC has not become as stupid as TX, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. All the Social Studies teachers in our department will be arrested I guess. A least I will have some good company in the county jail when they come for me....
