(90,767 posts)Did I mention lots? Daily - for 8 weeks.
It is currently not raining but that won't last. Evening rain moving in now.
Drainage ditches that fill with rain water and become a little ecosystem during normal rains have now become ponds - where it's not just turtles and frogs and the birds that feed on them. It's snakes and a few gators taking a break in the now too deep water. Driveways are washing away. Roads closed.
The parish is giving out free bags of sand.
It's that bad.
We live on a hill but our water-logged ditches sure are getting closer and closer to the house. It's become an adventure to check mail. I used to like it when the rain brought the waterfowl, shorebirds, and even the migrating seabirds as well as the turtles and frogs.
Now, not so much.
What we don't need is a hurricane.
Not even in the best of times - but now?
Nope.
We need to get good and dry before a major storm hits.

(90,767 posts)Prepared as I can be for it anyway - which is to say, I got my hurricane supply pack ready. Even go-bags ready.
Just would be nice if we could dry out first. lol
Constant wet is yucky.
