Would you hire someone who isn't vaccinated?

Last week we got a BIG hailstorm, so, as expected, many representatives from roofing companies are going door-to-door to get contracts on new roofs.

This morning I was working in my front yard and a guy came up and started his pitch. I realized at one point that we were just a little too close to each other, so I took a step back. Then I said that I was vaccinated, and he replied that he was not. My immediate thought was that he's a repuke. Ugh.

We did continue to talk about all of the damage that my property got, and I have to admit that I like the idea of having one company pretty much take care of everything that I'll need done, but I just don't think I can get past the repuke thing.

He wasn't wearing a red trump hat, so there's that.

My SIL said she couldn't get it because of an adverse reaction to flu shots.

I think the conclusion I jumped to was most likely correct.

With vaccines available almost everywhere now, I would say those chances are getting very remote.

I want nothing to do with the anti-vaxxers, the Trumpers, the Magats and MTGs or child raping scum on the right, and I certainly won't spend my discretionary income in any manner that helps them either....

So, like I said, without a really good reason, its a hard pass.

Nobody other than my family gets to come in my house. The adults are all vaccinated, and all of the same mind about believing in science.

All of this work is outside work from the hail storm, so I wouldn't expect anyone to wear a mask. Also, I'm not going to have the actual work done until after hail season is over. I've just got a sneaking suspicion that we're going to have some crazy weather this year.

Politically I would say she is a leftist bordering on radical. Our office is small but we can distance and wear masks when we have to interact.

We will be dealing with people who are not vaccinated whether we know it or not.

But when somebody does work on my property, I always let them know that they're free to use a bathroom that's accessible without entering the main part of my house. I know they're going to have to "go", and I don't want them to use my yard. A long time ago, when I lived in another neighborhood, my neighbor was having some work done. I glanced out a window and saw one of the workers peeing on the side of the neighbor's house. So I always invite workers to use that bathroom so it doesn't happen on my property.

We're about to start work on a guest bathroom remodel followed by a complete kitchen remodel. We're using the same GC who built an addition on our house 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure most of his crew are undocumented workers, but they do an awesome job and I'm happy the GC employs them. We will have no way of telling if any of the crew are unvaccinated, but since my husband and I are fully vaxed, we have no concerns with any of them working in our house.

If it is someone who is doing outside labor and not coming in your house I don't really see an issue with it from strictly the disease perspective. Now if you want to use it as way to try and draw a conclusion about who he voted for, ok but that's just a guess. He could be an apolitical guy who just hasn't gotten the vaccine because he figures he works outside and is at low risk for it and can't afford to be off work if he has an adverse reaction to it. Or he could be a hardcore Trumpist anti-vaxxer. Who knows?

the contractor replacing our gutters left to go get his second shot.

We hadn't really thought to ask - my wife and I are both fully vaccinated now and this was all outside work - but he volunteered the information and we were happy to delay our project for an hour or so while he got his shot.

We are also Floridians so may not have much choice in the future but it was nice to know this guy had his shots.

I do not trust even one little tiny bit that the magats will all be honest about being vaccinated when they stroll out in public maskless.

... kept knocking loudly on my door, like there was an emergency. I didn't locate my mask right away, and I opened the door a crack just to end the incessant banging.

He was some obese repairman not wearing a mask, and he yelled through the door crack, "Here about the heater!"

It turned out that he went to the wrong address, so I told him to drive down the street because he was at the wrong place!

I should have just shut the door completely! Instead I kept backing away from his droplet-spewing while continuing to hold the door barely open, which made him yell even louder through the crack.

Then I watched through a window to see the people down the street immediately allow his fat mask-less face into their home. Ugh.

... indoor repair-people like plumbers and electricians were very careless during the pandemic.

I had the misfortune of a major underground pipe leak under my apartment months ago, so naturally the landlord wanted it fixed ASAP.

The plumber that was hired showed up at my door without a mask during the initial diagnosis, and he had to get a mask from his van after I demanded that he wear one. Then I locked myself away in my bedroom and talked through the door, spraying Lysol everywhere after he left.

When the repairs were scheduled, I had plastic sheeting blocking off nearly the entire apartment from the area where he did the work. Then avoided that entire area for a few days after it was done!

I'm fully vaccinated too, and I still don't see a reason to let anyone into my house that isn't related to me. If I need something repaired inside that I can't handle, one of my sons gets elected to help me. Fortunately he's always willing to help out his mom. He's my rock, and he knows it.

I just get an immediate negative attitude about a person when I hear that they're not vaccinated, because at this point the excuses are just plain stupid. I just have no tolerance for trumpers,

In this case, this guy was just out drumming up business. He looked to be retirement age, so I find it highly unlikely that he'd be doing the actual work.

I kinda thought they'd all back off a bit when I told them I'm not having it done until hail season is over, but they're still very persistent. They practically drool when I tell them that I also own some rental properties. Suddenly they start rattling off all kind of perks to get my business.
