Biden travels to Delaware to pay respects to family of longtime staffer

President Biden on Tuesday attended a viewing for a woman who died last week after spending decades working with him as a staffer. The president made a quick stop in Delaware, where was joined by his son Hunter Biden to pay respects to the family of Norma Long, the White House said.

"Norma worked for President Biden’s Senate Office for over thirty years. She was beloved by her colleagues in Delaware and Washington, D.C., and by the entire Biden family," the White House said. The president spent roughly an hour inside the funeral home.

He briefly told reporters about the reason for his whirlwind trip to Wilmington before departing Washington, D.C. The president is expected to return to Delaware for the Memorial Day weekend. Long died last week at age 75 due to complications from myelodysplastic syndrome/leukemia, according to her obituary. She went to work for Biden in 1977 for his reelection campaign. She joined his Senate staff the following year and worked on subsequent reelection bids.

Long worked as Biden's Delaware scheduler for a time, according to her obituary, until he was elected vice president in 2008.

who once bragged that "everyone who works for me gets fired eventually" yet ALSO sent toadies to media outlets to claim he "doesn't really like to fire people" in order to cover up the sheer cowardice of his firing-via-tweet technique.
