School of Rock 's Kevin Clark Dead at 32 After Cycling Accident

The former child star and professional drummer, who portrayed Freddy Jones in the 2003 film starring Jack Black, was killed in a cycling accident on Wednesday, May 26 in Chicago, Ill, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirms to E! News.

Authorities with the Chicago Police Department tell E! News a man, who they declined to identify by name, was riding his bicycle westbound early this morning when a motorist traveling southbound in a Toyota struck him. He was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m. local time after being transported to a nearby hospital, a police spokesperson says.

A 20-year-old female driving a Hyundai Sonata was issued unspecified citations. According to police, the person at fault has not been determined and the crash remains under investigation.

According to Clark's IMDb, School of Rock was his only acting credit. Despite not pursuing a career in Hollywood, Clark continued playing music in local bands, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Or if the driver had little chance of seeing him. Sad in any case for both bicyclist and driver.

My husband I occasionally cycle at night, and we have lights on the front of our bikes and flashing lights on the back.

Feel so bad for his family. And for the driver: she'll have to live with this for the rest of her life.

From the original article, the driver approached at a 90 degree angle from the direction he was traveling on his bike. I've seen bicyclists who were very visible from front or back, but nearly invisible from the side. That is really dangerous for everyone.

Be safe out there and check your visibility from all directions!

Quite visible. Husband mentioned the other night getting lights to wear on our bodies as well. We will likely do that. Thanks for your concern.

Unless it was a very old bike or they were removed, those reflectors should have been easily visible.

There are too many drunk, drugged, distracted and imbecile car drivers to have any rational belief you can share the road safely.

Unfortunately, you need to ride on the road to get to them.

I've seen many cyclists in Chicago, but I would never, never ride there.
