He's arguing that he's in danger of losing his disability benefits, isn't getting his pain medication and ADHD meds while he's incarcerated. But he was well enough to wield an axe handle and threaten police officers on January 6. Oh, and he has "family obligations." Cry me a river, traitor.
Kansas City area Proud Boy who wielded ax handle at Capitol riot wants out of jail
BY JUDY L. THOMAS
MAY 27, 2021 08:52 AM
An Olathe Proud Boy incarcerated since his arrest in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection is asking the court to reconsider its decision to detain him pending trial.
In a motion filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, William Chrestmans attorney argued that the Army veteran posed no safety risk and that prosecutors had no proof that he was part of any organized effort to breach the Capitol.

A workplace accident resulted in Chrestman suffering long-term chronic back pain, it said, and he wasnt receiving the proper regimen of pain medications while incarcerated. The motion said Chrestman also was being treated for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, major depressive disorder and insomnia, and those conditions were now going untreated.

The residence he shares with his common-law partner
and their six children is in danger of foreclosure, placing the whole nuclear family in jeopardy of homelessness, it said.

Perhaps he should have thought about all that before he decided to participate in the attempted overthrow of the federal government. What a tool.

(13,523 posts)pain meds. Guess hes getting a taste of what many prisoners experience while they are in jail. Many dont get their medications they need. Suppose he should have given some thought to what he was getting himself into, and what the consequences would be for him and his family if he went through with it. Sorry but no sympathy here.

Common law wife means they probably get a govt check for kids.
And since he is on work disability, well thats another check
Apparently not so disabled that he can still swing an axe handle
at the Insurrection.
Lock his ass up.

(22,143 posts)travel to DC and back, isn't that questionable? After all, I've suffered back injury, still have it reoccur still to this day after 30+ years, and the last thing I want to do is get into a car/vehicle and drive on the road w/ a bad back. Believe me, other fellow DUers will agree w/ me.
And where did this idiot learn how to whine? Why of course from djt, the one who mastered the art of whining endlessly.
Ms. Toad
(34,076 posts)I've had a back injury since the 80s. The pain never completely goes away - although most days it's a 1-2 level pain. I can drive for days on end.
Using my right arm to carry an axe at my side would be no problem. Swinging it would likely trigger a month of pain.
SWBTATTReg
(22,143 posts)All 'back injuries' are not identical, but it's still a back injury. You're one the few I know that can handle driving endlessly w/ back pain. It's still not easy.
Ms. Toad
(34,076 posts)where the pain is, etc. The source of mine is a musce spasm which never goes away. But as long as I can recline the seat a bit and avoid lifting anything with my right arm out to the side of my body, the pain stays down to a dull roar.
But - I reacted the way I did because I was nearly denied worker's comp based on stereotypes of how a back injury is supposed to behave - despite the fact that even a 1st year medical student can touch my back, 40 years later, and immediately find the focal point of the pain.
Fortunately I wasn't ultimately denied partial permanent disability under worker's comp based on those assumptions, but it wasn't a given because their doctors were just punching the clock and basing their conclusions on their assumptions about what people can do with a back injury (like people with back injuries can't drive for long periods of time.) The battery of their tests (bend, stretch, lift, etc.) didn't test any of the things that aggravated my injury.

(34,076 posts)Not what it was at the time. Not what it is now if I do something to trigger it. At the moment, it's about a 4 (and has been for close to that for about a month).
But - driving in a car doesn't trigger my pain, nor is it a source of pain for everyone with a back injury.

(20,202 posts)My brother had the misfortune of inheriting bad discs from our mother's side of the family. He's 58 and has had 2 neck surgeries and one lumbar. He is never pain free, ever.
Ms. Toad
(34,076 posts)Even low-level pain.
Fortunately, I've mostly been able to work out a truce with my body - but I've got now 6 things I have to adapt to for sleeping. I do it mostly without thinking - but the last doctor I explained reality to was a bit incredulous.
I've got a bit of sleep apnea - so I can't sleep on my back unless I have to because something triggered my back (setting off a month of sleeping on a heating pad & draping one over my chair back at work (it takes at least 12 hours/day for a month to get it back down to the low-level background pain once it's triggered).
I can't sleep on my stomach because when the doctor removed my top right rib he left one of the neck muscles just flapping in the breeze, so to speak, and it tied itself down someplace that wasn't very useful. So I don't have full range of motion (to comfortably turn the head to one side). So to prevent 24/7 neck spasms I have to sleep on one side with a stiff enough roll pressing on that muscle to keep it from fighting with its companion muscles all night. Normally that lets it relax for long enough that there's only mild pain during the day. If that's not enough, it gets the heating pad treatment overnight, too.
I'm not supposed to sleep on my right side beause I had a lumpectomy with removal of 3 lymph nodes - and constriction risks lymphedema. But I can't sleep on my left side because of shoulder pain. And now I've got a graft on my right arm (leftover from sarcoma in my right arm - the trigger for the conversation - the doc wanted me to switch sleeping positions). It adds to the lymphedema risk - and the swelling is threatening to turn into carpal tunnel syndrome (so I ought not be sleeping on it . . . )
But the best risk/pain compromise is sleeping on my right side hugging a giant pillow to keep my left arm level with the side of my body to minimize the arm-across-the-body-triggered shoulder pain.
Whew! But all that, coupled with carefully angling the back of my chair and not side-lifting anything with my right arm leaves me with tolerable mild chronic pain.
But it is exhausting.

(34,076 posts)And - since I've worked out the half-dozen truces to keep my body parts at peace individually over time, I don't really think of myself as having lots of problems until I start reciting them to a new health professional who hasn't heard the litany yet.
Each one is just part of my new reality.

Photos and videos captured William Norman Chrestman dressed in a black baseball hat and a green tactical vest during the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He was also carrying what an affidavit said "appeared to be a wooden club or axe handle, which was initially disguised as a blue flag." (Department of Justice)
KANSAS CITY .............................
Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ordered Tuesday that 47-year-old William Chrestman be taken from Kansas to Washington to be held until his trial. Howell's ruling reversed a decision last week from a federal judge in Kansas that Chrestman should be released until trial.
Federal authorities allege Chrestman, of Olathe, led members of the Kansas City-area Proud Boys who stormed the Capitol last month.
An affidavit details alleged evidence of the group's coordination and planning for the riot saying Chrestman and two other people linked to the Kansas City-area Proud Boys were seen wearing tactical-style gear including helmets and gloves.

Chrestman was also seen carrying a weapon disguised as a flag, according to the affidavit.
"Chrestman arrived at the Capitol with a respirator and wooden club or axe handle disguised as a flag," the affidavit said.

These protests for leniency echo what that woman who was maced said with much surprise, "We're storming the Capitol. It's a revolution," with the same disbelief as if she were maced at a bake sale. I think if somehow their leader is finally forced to pay for any of his crimes, it will have a devastating effect on the cult, as this sense of impunity is the magical spell that binds them all.
