"SNIP......
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told reporters he was not open to eliminating the filibuster in order to get the January 6 commission bill passed.
Said Manchin: Im not willing to destroy our government, no. I think well come together. You have to have faith theres 10 good people.
Taegan Goddard says:
Manchin could issue an ultimatum to Republicans: Either vote for the commission or I end the filibuster. Hes got all the power.
......SNIP"

(10,434 posts)Faith that there's 10 good republicons??????? REALLY????
If we out here can see it, how can he not?
He's apparently content to let them destroy not just the government, but the whole damn country.

(16,110 posts)ending the filibuster would make our government work better.
It would force Senators to go on record as voting for or against legislation. That's all.
They can vote for popular legislation or against it. They can do the same on unpopular legislation.
Right now, they don't have to have an opinion, they don't have to have a record to run on or to have used against them.
Besides, the filibuster only hurts Democrats. Everything the right wing wants can be done in reconciliation.

(6,974 posts)IF the GQP steals the House and Senate on the next go-around, this country won't even have a history to look back on, because increasing numbers of them want to remove ANY references of slavery OUT of school books, being taught or mentioned because as one GQP cultist said "It'll make white people look bad." I'm just guessing that the GQP will try its best to make sure that there is no Democratic party--just THEIR party of racists, cultists, secessionists et al.
Again, if the GQP steals the Senate/House on the next go-around ....

(10,434 posts)WHEN they steal. Not if.
They are working their asses off all over the country. New laws, revised laws, whatever it takes, to make sure that something like Georgia doesn't happen again.
They absolutely WILL steal it in 2022, and that will be the finisher.
Manchin is OK with that, I don't know how else to interpret his inaction.

(6,974 posts)The man whose name I not dare mention from WV is MORE than okay with ceding all power BACK to the GQP in 2022. I would say his name, but the times I have said his name and have been very critical of him recently, my post was removed. The other one was hidden. "Guess" he has fans here on this site? Who'd have thought 🤔
