Should Pres Biden appoint a republican senator to something

so that the democratic governor can appoint his/her replacement? Obviously, MoscowMitch or RandPutin would need to be fired shortly after being hired, but thankfully there's precedent for that. Ask drump.

Just looking for ideas and solutions here.

GOVERNOR APPOINTS, NO RESTRICTIONS ON PARTY: DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR, 2 REPUBLICAN SENATORS (3 STATES)

The only possible candidate would be Toomey, who's not running for reelection. Everyone else has no reason to accept an offer to join the administration. And it's not like Biden can force them to.

In the wake of the insurrection, it might have worked. 51 is far more powerful than 50 (and unfortunately we really have 48 +2 sometimes right now).

But she always seems to tumble off on the Republican side.

We just need enough votes to overturn the filibuster so that we can move forward. If democrats don't pass the voting rights and George Floyd laws, it's over. Nobody will turn out in '22.

Black and other minority voters ALWAYS go the extra mile to try to overcome voter suppression. As we say, we find a way out of no way. We turn out no matter what.

Perhaps you mean that lots of white voters won't turn out because they think the obstacles are too daunting. That may be true, but it doesn't have to be.

This may be the first time that many white voters face obstacles to voting and they aren't used to that. But if these bills don't get passed - although I think they will eventually get through - these white voters are going to need to suck it up and vote like Black and Brown people always have had to. If that means standing in 8 hour lines, they need to go stand in 8 hour lines. If that means figuring out how to get registered using the more complicated processes, that means doing that, even if it's harder. If that means checking and rechecking and rechecking their registrations to make sure they didn't get purged and If they did, to register again, it means doing all that.

White voters have enjoyed a great privilege of not being targeted by and subjected to these oppressive tactics that many Black, Brown and minority voters just take for granted and work around without complaining and without giving up and walking away. This time around, they may have to work harder and go through more inconvenience to vote. If that's the case, they need to do it, just like we always have.

If it comes to that, it might wake up more white voters out of their complacency and get them to work harder to protect voting rights in the future - which includes not sitting out elections because a candidate doesn't tickle every single one of their fancies.
