Beto O'Rourke: without HR1, we could lose our democracy "forever".

He said this on Rachel (guest host Ali Velshi) just now.

Does that make him a defeatist, or does that sweep away any doubt anyone should have about the stakes of this fight.

He also said the fight is now, this summer, or it could be too late.

It doesn’t look like HR1 can pass this Congress, we have a math problem.

That being clear, it is irresponsible for Democratic leaders to continue to pushing this doom and gloom narrative or it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. Activists, having heard for months that democracy hinges on this bill passing will inevitably become disillusioned and less likely to vote when it doesn’t pass.

Democrats will be prepared to fight and win in any environment.

If Manchin and Sinema had the courage and conviction to do the right thing and support abolishing the filibuster and voting for HR1, it would have been signed into law months ago.

HR1 doesn’t seem to have a path to passage, the continuing doom and gloom campaign makes no sense. It is a self-own that does nothing but depress Democratic voters, and is incredibly irresponsible.

I have seen no evidence that stating the stark reality of a future without HR1 will actually suppress Democratic voters.

If you tell people they are doomed unless the bill passes, and then it doesn’t pass...

They might just believe you. Why bother showing up to vote if your message is that it no longer matters?

I am quite frankly tired of this chicken little bullshit.

We are seriously close to losing our Democracy. It has certainly happened elsewhere and we’re dangerously close now......when one Party refuses to accept defeat and cries foul, it’s a stolen Election.....well that’s not a good sign.

It can happen here, we better believe that and fight hard to thwart this budding insurrection.....made possible by one Party going over the Edge.
