He seems really dense.

(7,263 posts)This is what we got when Dems had to invite Corporation Financial Donors into the fold in the 1980's because Raygun broke the Unions.
Past Dems dug this hole, Current Dems just have to fill it in. Not an easy task until we revitalize Unions again.

Why does anyone here think they would somehow be too ashamed or afraid to do so? When have they shown any compunction whatsoever?

(2,541 posts)Every GD time. I hate how the GOP filled the last SCOTUS seat but that right there should be the play for everyone of these issue. No matter how it has to happen thru reconciliation or whatever other means the Dems can use. Stop wasting time with the GOP.

(81,304 posts)Why are they still dicking around with the GOP? Do they REALLY think they'll be able to talk sense into anybody on that side of the aisle - on ANY subject of importance?
Seriously? They haven't learned Thing One since the Obama/Biden years? When they gave in on EVERYTHING the bad guys demanded, and then the bad guys STILL wouldn't vote for it.
Brian Williams referred to it this evening as "the Charlie Browning of the Democratic Party." STILL falling for Lucy's empty promises and reassurances that she'll hold that football securely so Charlie Brown can kick it. And EVERY DAMN TIME she yanks the football away at the last minute. Have our people learned NOTHING??????? By NOW????
NOTHING??????

Moostache
(9,895 posts)Isn't anyone else tired of fucking LOSING EVERYTHING?
Some recent L's hung on us by the GQP:
Universal Healthcare? Torpedoed
Environmental Protections and Progress? Static, no-action as the world burns and consequences worsen.
Economic and Taxation Reforms? Debt that will become unsustainable but taxes that ensure the richest pay less of their wealth than the poorest...and on it goes ad nausea
Supreme Court Justices? (Hey Breyer? Time to go to retirement yesterday pal...or we will get a 7-2 court and nothing else will matter for 45+ years if ever again)
Impeachment of an ex-president inciting rioters and insurrection?
Impeachment of an ex-president shaking down an ally to fabricate 'controversy'?
In 2009 - Joe Lieberman torpedoed Affordable Care Act when Democrats had "60" votes - result is watered down "first step" that has proven to be the ONLY STEP...and has been under attack and largely fought anyway.
In 2021 - Joe Manchin has effectively torpedoed Lewis Voting Rights Act and pretty much the entire Biden agenda when Democrats had "50" votes - result is bipartisan commission is shot down and yes, 54 votes is a "no" for the desires of the people, and representatives of BOTH parties...but 51 votes put a lifelong drunkard and ideologue on the Supreme Court for life against the universal condemnation of ONE party and the cheerleading and filibuster nuking strategy of the other.
Anyone else see the problem here for what it REALLY is?
Issues of massive importance AND massive popularity to the people are NOT getting done, period.
We get 54 and lose forever...they get 51 and win for decades into the future.
The excuses change - so too does the statement of outrage and disgust and "tsk, tsk shame on them", but the inaction, the absence of a hardball response and the ultimate lack of results remains. Do not think for one second that this catastrophe is not going to rain fire on the Democratic Party results in coming years...
The sad thing now is that the party is set up to take it right in the chin in 2022.
I predict that we lose the House, lose the Senate, have the Biden administration be completely irrelevant for the rest of the term. Revenge impeachments will be created out of whole cloth, the lazy cunts in the press will lap it up like manna from worthless piece of shit heaven and breathlessly cover it all day, 24/7 while the world burns and our society rips apart further.
We are teetering on the brink of extinction - as a party, as a country and eventually as a species...yet STILL no way to bring to heel the people who might delay the apocalypse and our ruination?
Investigate insurrection?
Oh hell no, we can't do that...it would look bad for us politically.
Advantage - seditious party of Trump
Nuke the filibuster?
Oh hell no, we can't do that...it would lead to the President's agenda being put in place. (or unless it allows us to stack the court with unqualified or uncompromising ideologues that is...)
Advantage - seditious party of Trump, fucking again...
Which one is worse?
Does it even fucking matter any more?
Why did I want Democrats to win control of the government? It sure as hell was not to assist that human fucking filth Trump in any way, shape or form. I am forlorn, despondent and pretty much considering checking out and becoming a detached spectator to watch this shit hole country crumble and implode from a safe distance - like Fiji or maybe a remote corner of Alaska without access by land.

I didnt write the post, I just recognized it for the modest proposal it was ... take away one stumbling block, the filibuster, and put President Bidens plans into action .
We do have a mandate after all, wouldnt be wonderful to see it come to fruition ?
Thanks ALL for the recs
