Why are the stalling the vote on the commission? If they have the 41 votes needed to block it, why are they essentially holding a talking filibuster on this other bill, forcing them to stay into the wee hours to vote on the commission?

(24,300 posts)but I would be willing to bet the vast majority of the country don't even know about it. Regardless, the fewer people watching it unfold on TV, the better it is for the republicans.

Sixty. That's the # which would humiliate him. 3 Votes short is as good as a mile. He's concerned about 60, not 57.
If I heard there were 9 votes, that would pique my interest.
