(30,613 posts)They are clearly a lost cause. At least Manchin and Sinema might be moved to better behavior, if enough pressure is applied.

(7,308 posts)It's perfectly fair to point out that 2 of our own are helping to enable this behavior.

(61,695 posts)Manchin and Sinema are hoping for compromise and ignore the deceptive practices of McConnell's GOP.: compromise to weaken Democratic legislation, then vote against it anyway. And in Trump's GQP, never do the right thing to allow democracy to flourish.

(8,300 posts)Manchin and her are blocking any possibility to make this commission happen, at this point.

(52,162 posts)at the very least, in order to sustain a filibuster when it is in opposition to a majority of the Senate, you should need to have 41 votes.

(2,636 posts)If that minority of senators represented a majority of people, the filibuster would be fine. It doesn't.
If you do the math, GOP Senators actually represent about thirty-five per cent of Americans. (2009) After 2020, Democratic Senators represent almost 42 million more people.
This hue and cry about 53% of GOP believing this or that is really McConnell wanting Americans to believe the senate minority represents 49.9% of the population. They don't.
McConnell can cry all he wants about how Republican senators need to be consulted because they represent one third of the American population."
Wait until child tax credit payments begin. GOP will speak for even fewer folks.
