Brazil Let 70 Million Shots Get Away and Sealed Its Covid Fate

(Bloomberg) -- Last August, when Brazil had emerged as among the worst hit nations by Covid, Pfizer Inc. offered the health ministry to set aside as many as 70 million doses of the vaccine it was developing. It got no answer. So it made the offer again. And then a third time.

The next month, the company’s former Brazil head, Carlos Murillo, told congress, Pfizer’s global chief put the offer in writing to President Jair Bolsonaro with copies to the vice president, chief of staff, ministers of health and economy and ambassador to the U.S.

He never heard back.

The severity of Covid in Brazil, with 16 million cases and 450,000 lives lost, has often been attributed to Bolsonaro, who still wades unvaccinated and maskless into crowds. A congressional probe is making clear, however, that his neglect has been matched by incompetence at nearly every level of government in key processes -- negotiations with drug companies, relations with other countries and supply chain management. ............(more)

1. Sounds so much like our former PINO rump. This is a terrible shame for some of my former friends

were from Brazil (and other parts of S. America), the people there were as friendly and caring as anywhere else in the world.

Maybe, just maybe we as the human race can get away from these scumbags that are basically failures as human beings as well as being totally incompetent and inept at everything they do. I hope so. You would think being able to fly craft out of the solar system on explorations that lasts decades and decades, alter genes to come up w/ new vaccines, move individual atoms one at a time, and other magnificent technologies that we can get away from this flawed system of seemingly choosing the most moronic persons around to be president ... Biden is a good example of how the process should work. I just hope that Biden is aggressive enough to mouth off back at rump when rump opens his big fat mouth.

I did see that Biden did tell off some (now ex) rump appointees when they whined about getting fired a couple of days ago by Pres. Biden. They must have taken the same 'How to Whine' class that djt did.

Even w/ tons of broadcast media available to highlight the bad parts of these scumbag dictators, nothing seems to work to keep these idiots from seeking power and then installing themselves permanently into the realm of government, living off the public dole w/ all of the free money they can grab for themselves (as well as their families and friends).
