San Jose shooter faced disciplinary hearing the day

of the shooting for making racist remarks to co-workers. Just heard on MSNBC. Many of his victims were people of color.

It's not to give them the infamy they seek; it's wanting to understand WTF happened and how something similar can be prevented.

5. As some of us noted the majority of the victims

were Hispanics and one was a Sikh - I did ask if it was a hate crime

6. I lived in San Jose for decades

It is a VERY diverse city and it has been for a long time. Most people accept it and celebrate it in my experience. I guess not all do.

7. I have a nephew in those parts

and he says the same. Sadly haters are everywhere

8. Yes, but there has been Asian hate even there. A good

friend, Japanese American, who grew up in Sunnyvale and lives in San Jose did not experience/observe it until recently.

9. Many areas are majority Asian,

and there is a very high concentration of Vietnamese Americans in San Jose. It's so sad to hear that.

10. It was a union meeting. Was the union finally going to let him be fired?

11. That's possible, but I saw on local news

that he supposedly pointed at the union organizer and said something like I'm not going to kill you. He selected his victims and did not kill everyone at the meeting.
