Rand Paul accuses Richard Marx of trying to have him assassinated
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) received an anonymous death threat this week and instead of the actual perpetrator, the oddball politician is blaming… singer Richard Marx. Marx, whose last number-one hit was in 1991, has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and his Republican enablers.
The package sent to Paul was filled with white powder and included a threatening note and image that referenced the senator’s fistfight with his neighbor.
The note included a photo of a bandaged and bruised Paul with a gun pointed at his head. At the bottom, it says “I’ll finish what your neighbor started, you motherfucker.”
The day before, Marx had tweeted, “I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.”
The singer was spurred by reporting that Paul, who has championed bans on some forms of health care for women and transgender people, is refusing to get the COVID vaccine because “medical decisions” are personal.
Anything sent through regular mail would take longer than 24 hours to arrive. But that didn’t stop Paul from blaming Marx for some reason.
