True Believers have toppled governments to establish their own many times in history. I'm no historical expert, but there was the Medicis, the Tudors, Cromwell, Royal Houses of various kinds, Napoleons, Kaisers, Nazis, Soviets. Each fell eventually as people sought freedom.

I think the Insurrectionist Party is in total knowledge that if they don't get this done now, or in the next 4 years, the opportunity for their tyranny will have passed. Their Achilles heel is that they will try to sleepwalk their way through their time out of power. That's what they're attempting to do here: ignore any negative press that would hinder their plan.
