And now they're dropping a new one in southern California.
And when we all die, they'll move here and take over.

(21,108 posts)Personally, I couldn't care less WHERE it originated. That is for scientist and researchers to worry about. If they can use that information to help eliminate the next one, great.

(94,657 posts)Ive thought through the issue comprehensively.
Is there life elsewhere in the galaxy? Almost certainly: the question to be addressed is whether its practical for that life to get here.
The CLOSEST location for a potentially life-supporting planet is Alpha Centauri, 4.4 LY away. Beyond that, the distances grow substantially. Assuming an alien civilization hasnt overcome the challenge of FTL travel, the time involved is impractically long, and the size of a ship required to carry enough fuel and supplies for the crew would be substantially larger than what is being reported in sightings. The impracticalities would also limit the the frequency of visits to a level far below the claimed sightings.
If youre assuming that an alien civilization has mastered the ability for FTL travel, theyve also likely mastered the ability to hide their vehicles from detection. Add to which, despite the growing technical quality and portability of cameras, we have no photos of anything other than blurry lights and obvious forgeries.

And the people with long covid are part of the supercomputer . . . .
