General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWe need to change the paradigm.
The usual way of thinking about January 6th is not working.
We need a new way of looking at it.
We need a paradigm shift.
We need a shock to the system, in my opinion.
We need to trace the problem to its source and change the way we think about it.
Perhaps Republicans do not deserve the respect or credibility of a national Political Party?
Perhaps someone should be charged and arrested?
Insanity is doing and saying the same thing over and over. Perhaps we should not do it anymore?
What can we do to shock the system into a paradigm shift?

(111,106 posts)...would be to make them an offer they can't refuse.
If they do not approve the 1/6 Commission, then there will be no more filibuster. (That would require Manchin and Sinema doing something for their country, rather than themselves)

(111,106 posts)...and soon, no one will remember that it happened. It will disappear. It will not go down in history. It will be forgotten.
Is that what Americans want?
An attack upon our nation's Capitol, in an attempt to stop the Electoral Count process in the Congress of the United States of America, caused great harm.
Can we really forget about it?
The President of the United States, an autocrat at heart, did not want to leave the White House. (He acted like a kid that did not want to go to bed, because his favorite TV show was coming on)
He inspired and requested that his fans come to Washington DC on January 6th.
When they got there, he incited them to go to the Capitol and to stop the electoral count of the votes. It was a dastardly act.
Now, we are to pretend it never happened? That is what the Republicans are saying. "Let's sweep it under the rug...soon, it will be forgotten."

(8,336 posts)Political donors paid for this. Shut down the money by shaming those who paid for it. It wont stop some right wing nuts, but American business can not survive this type of upheaval. Dont let these nuts hide behind normalcy.

How one billionaire family bankrolled election lies, white nationalism and the Capitol riot
They have likely been involved in incentivizing and funding the fraudits, voter suppression laws, other Big Lie garbage, maybe threatening to withhold their hefty campaign contributions from Republicans who vote for the 1/6 commission, etc.
Follow the money.

(7,542 posts)I believe the real shift will come when more realize that the end never justifies the means. Bottom line...this is what differentiates our political parties. The parties have come to resemble those that populate them.

Welcome to our next hour of news. New talker but the same thing as the last hour. Tune in the next hour for even more of the same thing. We will hear from the same person we have heard from 50 times before.
