(10,836 posts)This is what all Democratic members need to start doing. Call out Republicans for who and what they are. Hypocrites. Be it their professed love of all things military or law enforcement.
The Republican Party betrayed every man or woman who has ever served, ever worn a uniform. By doing so, they've betrayed their oath of office and betrayed the American public. The only oath they recognize now is power, money, influence.
Seditionists. Treason weasels.
It should be stamped on their foreheads.

Monday is Memorial Day. As a veteran, Id like to ask that these 35 Senators just stay home.
No more BS speeches about those who gave their lives. The mother of a veteran who gave his life just begged for your vote, & you turned your back on her & all of us.

A motion to move forward on a House-passed bill to establish a Jan 6th Commission has failed to get the 60 votes needed to pass, 54-35.
It was blocked by Republicans, led by Sen McConnell, who are worried the findings of the commission will be used to hurt them politically.

The police who fought for their lives & ours on 1/6 deserved better than this.
5 months & the public STILL doesnt know why police & military leadership mounted such a poor response to the insurrection, & left those officers fending for themselves.

Replying to @ConorLambPA
A commission would get the truth. Americans are still capable of that, but our system proved incapable of it yet again just as it has proven incapable of protecting people who simply want their votes to be counted & the winner to be certified.

We have to want this government to succeed more than the GOP wants it to fail.
Yesterday it failed. That cant continue.
They've made us choose between protecting our Capitol & our democracy, or a procedural tool that isnt in the Constitution.
The filibuster has to go.

And they could have been any of us.
Trump**'s ego is not something I would willinglly die for, personally.
