The U.S. Postal Service is raising rates on letters, magazines and marketing missives by as much as 6.9 percent this summer, sending the cost of a first-class stamp from 55 to 58 cents, as it leans into an expansive restructuring plan that codifies slower mail delivery and streamlines agency operations.

The rate structure announced Friday is the latest installment of Postmaster General Louis DeJoys plan to erase a projected $160 billon in liabilities over the next decade. The agency has struggled for the better part of a year with inconsistent delivery service and soaring package volumes that have gridlocked its processing network. The Postal Services on-time delivery scores have not topped 90 percent since July 2020.

Waiting patiently for this asshole to be shown the door
I've given up hope on any chance of these vermin being held accountable, given the recent DOJ decisions to let Trump and Barr skate.
The lack of aggressive expulsions of Trump henchmen and percieved lack of resolve in bringing them to justice is disturbing.

Otherwise that is just money that accrues in the liability account and can't be used for expenses.

so they pass along the costs to postage on packages and raise PO Box fees.
No matter how they can DeJoy, the higher costs remain. They either need new sources of revenue, or lower costs such as fewer hours, less labor, cheaper operations. No one wants to close post offices, it's a local thing. I think counter hours will be severely reduced - everyone mails packages from home pickup.

The postal unions say if theres big public support to remove dejoyless it would be very helpful.
