Democrats Immediately Make McConnell And McCarthy Pay For Blocking 1/6 Commission

https://www.politicususa.com/2021/05/28/democrats-immediately-make-mcconnell-and-mccarthy-pay-for-blocking-1-6-commission.html

"SNIP......

The minute that Mitch McConnell successfully blocked the creation of the 1/6 Commission, Democrats started fundraising and pounding on the GOP.

Business Insider reported:

Party leaders almost immediately began fundraising and pounding on Republicans who opposed a procedural Senate vote Friday on legislation to create the commission to investigate the pro-Trump insurrection at the US Capitol.

….

Campaign staff tasked with defending the 14 Democratic senators up for re-election in the midterms wasted no time hanging the failed vote around the necks of Trump’s loyal cheerleaders.

“By voting against a bipartisan, impartial examination of the deadly insurrection on January 6th, Sens. Johnson, Rubio, and Senate Republicans sent a clear message to voters: they aren’t strong enough to stand up to Trump and do what’s right for our country, and their only goal in the Senate is looking out for their own self-serving political interests,” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas told Insider.

I was expecting something out of the box that would stick. Guess not. I’d rather each candidate get 20K dollars to campaign and that is it. No donations at all. This way it’s an even field and those with millions don’t get an advantage. How you spend You’re 20 grand, I don’t care.

So it would mean that incumbents would automatically win every election. There would be 2 (or more) names on the ballot and voters would simply choose the one they had heard of before.

is NOT punishing the Repugs. I'm just now beginning to get my finances back under control from giving way too much last year. Being made to feel badly because I can't give any money right now feels punishing to me not the Repugs. I am so heartily tired of deleting requests for money and feeling guilty about it.

None of them are getting any money from me until they start pushing back in a way that shows me they are serious about stopping the republican dismantling of Democracy. So far, I'm not impressed.

Calling this a "punishment" for the GOP misses the mark, as some have observed. Nevertheless, it's good news, and beating them over the head with it helps some Democratic candidates win, it will be a punishment for Repugs.

Why would the republicans not want an investigation?

Who was in the Jan 06 insurrection/riot smearing poop on the walls of Congress, attacking police, seeking Mike Pence for execution, and vandalizing the Capitol Bldg?

The ONLY proof you need that Antifa had nothing to do with January 6th is the Republicans' refusal to form a commission to investigate it.

House/Senate/DOJ can and will investigate.

Ask they can do is keep it from being labeled as a bipartisan commission.

Odd how GOP priorities like tax policy and lifetime judicial appointments aren't subject to the filibuster, but Dem priorities like voting rights and civil rights are DOA without 60.

But glad they are able to fundraise off of it. Lord knows, our election victories are shallow - and we always need to be gearing up for the next one.

Aside from the obvious problem Republicans will have defending their action to voters in 2022, there will be a commission and investigation of some kind, and he will have less control of the process than he would have had otherwise.

I think he's made a big mistake on this one.
