NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro sues YouTube comedian Friendlyjordies and Google for defamation
NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro is suing online comedian Jordan Shanks, known as Friendlyjordies, for defamation over two sketch videos published on YouTube.
The claim, lodged in the Federal Court on Thursday, alleges Mr Barilaro was defamed by Mr Shanks and internet giant Google, which refused a request to delete the videos.
The two clips at the centre of the claims have collectively amassed close to 1 million views.
In a statement of claim, lawyers for Mr Barilaro said he was initially defamed in the first video, titled "bruz", published in September, claiming it implied Mr Barilaro was a corrupt conman and committed perjury.
