refused a blood transfusion if they found out the process was made possible by a black physician?! Charles Drew was an African American surgeon who pioneered methods of storing blood plasma for transfusion and organized the first large-scale blood bank in the U.S.

be segregated by white donors and black donors. Dr. Drew protested by asking if the enemy was separating their bullets "for white troops and for black troops".

that one is somehow receiving "tainted care" at the risk of one's life? Outrageous, hateful AND stupid.

Before she retired from a regional medical center a dear friend, who was a participant, told her this story.

There was a skin head patient literally covered with white supremacy tats going into surgery. Just as he was going to sleep my wife's very black friend bent over and whispered in his ear that unlike you we don't care that you're white. I am your nurse, your scrub tech is Filipino, your anesthesiologist is Chinese, your surgeon is Lebanese. We don't care about your skin color, we will take the best care of you possible.

Sleep tight.
