Something to remember and repeat for the 2022 election

Interesting and pointed OP by Eric Boehlert, a message that should be the main argument for our 2022 elections. All this nonsense that the GOP is 'afraid' of Trump and his supporters should be thrown overboard. The embrace of the Big Lie and subsequent madness of January 6th conspiracies and voter suppression is not fueled by fear of Trumpers but by Republican choice.

These politicians are not children lead astray but men and women who have put power, influence and money ahead of the country's welfare and future. They have chosen anti-democratic, unAmerican choices to hang on and they don't give a hoot about the consequences as long as they win, even if it means burning the house down.

We lean into that, the true horror of it, we win. Getting our voters out will be essential as well as working around these odious ID requirements (making sure, for instance, that our voters obtain requisite ID) and providing adequate information well before Election Day.

But we need to make it clear that the Republican Party is not simply dysfunctional. They are actively, deliberately pursuing an anti-democratic construct, one which they will impose on all of us.

The time to shout this out, press it, push it is now. I'm convinced that 2022 will have local aspects but will ultimately be a national referendum on the Republican Party and its charge against all things American.

This is not the loyal opposition. These people are seditionists.

It's long past time for them to be treated that way.

By the media, the grand juries, and most importantly, Democratic politicians.

There is an extreme urgency here, we need to see that they also understand that.

3. Things are beginning to shift

Jim Acosta has led the way for mainstream journalists. He's come out and slammed this nonsense and several other journalists have (thank God) followed suit. I don't expect journalists to be saviors but I do expect them to be pro-democracy.

The journalism, the OPs in our major papers, cable, TV, radio etc., play a part. But I think you're right--we need our representatives to get on message and start pounding this day after day after day. We need to be as (if not more) consistent than the Republicans with their daily torrent of lies.

It is urgent. Because losing is not an option.

4. Which is a good attack

Because Marjorie Taylor Greene is the poster-child for all things wrong and despicable in the Republican Party. She's a powerhouse money raiser. Throw her ugly words right back at her, her childish and damaging antics. The woman has no business being in any government position, let alone the #1 Trumper in a skirt spewing hate and disinformation from the House of Representatives.

Shut her down. Shut them all down.

On the dollar.

She may be getting a lot of donations..but missing the really big bucks

Wondered whether that still applies because yes, 18 cents on the dollar reduces the multimillion dollar haul significantly.

Let's hope that's still in play.
