Frank Figliuzzi calls QAnon a worsening domestic terror threat and says their leadership must be dismantled including members of Congress, associates of Trump, and even Trump himself.

I agree.
Once this is accomplished, Joe can begin healing the country politically. Currently, we are swimming in a cesspool of right wing voting laws that are unconstitutional. We have been invaded by autocratic rwnjs. How anyone can say they are patriotic to this country and be a member of that party is beyond me.

(13,061 posts)Prosecution the more this insurrectionw be swept under the rug. The RWNJs are good at framing that messaging &spreading lies, distortions & misinformation.

(1,577 posts)and have never seen a party shame themselves the way the repugs are. I can remember cooperation between parties. I remember Watergate. Cooperation was had and the crook resigned. Now, we have a party that supports someone that cannot/will not get re-elected legally and simply milks his party faithful for all he can get. He needs to be brought down several notches.

(16,254 posts)between the lines, if you listen closely, than some of the others and when he is deeply concerned, I follow his lead. Several of those guys (former FBI/security) have been expressing their thoughts on the threat to our democracy and I think people are beginning to take heed.
I would suspect there are many things going on in the background with these conspiracy nuts and with QAnon and the white supremacists who are still avoiding jail after 1/6, everyone needs to watch their backs. Hopefully, Trump will spill a lot of information once he starts those damned rallies this month.

I got the same message during a phone call with a trusted close relative....I didn't take him seriously...
Maybe I should have.

(15,060 posts)Unless the Democrats can kill the filibuster, many of the insane state voting laws currently being passed will stand. And this means that the Republican/Fascist Party can steal the 2022 and 2024 elections. And that will be the end of American democracy.
The Big Lie and QANON are deadly dangers to our freedoms. State voting laws are the tools they are using to seize control.

(10,078 posts)Are our domestic terrorism laws strong enough, and are they being enforced (definitely not under Trump)?
Under (federal law), 18 USC § 2331:
(5) the term domestic terrorism means activities that
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
The Patriot Act also provides some protections, but it seems that groups have to use actual violence rather than words to merit prosecution.

(2,151 posts)Essentially the same type of group. But Law enforcement lets the Proud boys get away with a lot of law breaking, so the first step would be to treat them the same way that the cops treat Black protesters.

(4,406 posts)The whole organisation is held responsible for the criminal activities of individual members. The feds used charges against some leaders to seize the physical assets of the whole organisation including a lot of real estate which helped to bankrupt them.

(35,378 posts)have gone by and in the meantime the Q nut noise machine has been able to downplay how serious it was. The Q cult
has been brainwashed that it was really BLM and AnTi fa. just a normal tourist visit or they hugged and
kissed the cops. It doesn't matter they will claim all the above. Congress spent weeks trying to get
a commission to investigate Jan 6th when we all new that the Senate would never vote for it. Here it is
5 moths latter and nothing has been accomplished. The Q nut noise machine is still spreading their propaganda and the
criminal x president is still spreading even more inflammatory lies.
This threats should not be underestimated

(11,567 posts)the Constitution and democracy. That's why I've not taken the threat of armed revolution very seriously - I expect the vast majority of uniformed forces take their oaths seriously and that many joined up because of their desire to be part of the tradition of holding America together.
But it has dawned on me that that vast reservoir of duty and patriotism will work against us in the event of a "slow motion" or "quiet" revolution such as would be effected by these incredibly odious laws. It's not the job of the military or of law enforcement to parse election laws and make judicial-level distinctions between "then" and "now."
I see them following what is ostensibly the "duly-elected" government(s), supporting and defending those mandates.

(20,588 posts)Our Qanon mayor was mentored by two men who consider themselves kingmakers. They are "mentoring" others and have been successful at getting them into political positions. They run out the sane people who have been neutralized into the minority and replace them with Q people.
This is happening all over the country in small towns - not just here.
This is the insane mentoring potential insane people.
Go to the top - find out who this is and dismantle them.
I truly believe this is way more serious than we are aware.

(22,890 posts)is absolutely no evidence that they the "leadership" of QAnon. The movement has no leaders, is not really a "movement" at all, has spread into various sub-conspiracy theories and spinoffs that now have a life of their own in countries all over the world.
