"Zip-tie guy" Eric Munchel and his mom now face more than twice as many charges in connection with the U.S. Capitol siege.
The first had three counts.
This has eight, including carrying a deadly weapon (a Taser) into the Capitol.

Federal prosecutors more than doubled the charges against so-called Zip-Tie Guy Eric Munchel and his mother Lisa Marie Eisenhart in a superseding indictment filed on Wednesday, charging them with eight counts, including carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon into the U.S. Capitol.
That weapon was a Taser, prosecutors say.
Spotted jumping around the Senate chamber in military gear, Munchel got his nickname after wire photographs captured him carrying tactical restraints inside Congress. Munchel claimed to have picked up the plastic handcuffs that Capitol police left behind, but he was not the only person to have done so. Prosecutors have noted that they theoretically could have been used for taking hostages, though they have not specifically alleged that there was such a plot.
Ultimately, however, it was a different weapon that figured into the grand jurys superseding indictment against Munchel and his mother Eisenhart. Authorities have long alleged that Munchel carried a black and yellow Taser Pulse in a black holster of his camouflage pants, a detail that appeared in an FBI affidavit against him back in January.

(16,513 posts)That's a rhetorical question, of course (as I presume yours was). But here's a stab at a literal answer...
I don't think these people, or any of the others, really knew what they were doing, except following Chump's orders. HE told them to go there, and that's the only reason they needed. Their lord and master said "Jump!" and they didn't even ask "How high?" They just jumped, because HE wanted them to, and they wanted to please him.
He got them all riled up with that rally and his speech. He made them feel like they were special, telling them there was a very important job he needed them to do, that ONLY they could do. He told them to go down to the Capitol, and he made it sound like he was going with them. So they went. They may have figured (if they thought about it at all) that he was going to tell them what to do when they got there. But I don't think they thought about it much. Their "god" was giving them a job to do, and they were thrilled to do his bidding. The details didn't really concern them. He said "Go," and off they went.
And then they got there, and the rest, as they say, is history. And I know it all sounds ridiculous, because it WAS ridiculous. But there are people who know how to get others to do ridiculous things, and Chump is one of those people.
So, anyway, that's my theory, fwiw.
brush
(53,870 posts)and the other thing he offered..."I'll be there with you" was key I think as it spurred them on even more in thinking he would be there to instruct them further.
But of course he's such a liar. He had no intention of going there as he's so used to having others like Cohen and Rudy and Barr to do his dirty work for him. He went back to the WH to watch it on TV and have refreshments.

(12,429 posts)There is no evidence that Rittenhouse's mom drove him across state lines with the AR-15.
The AR-15 was stored at his friends house in Wis., who now faces Fed. charges for straw purchase of the AR-15.

Do you have a link?

(49,040 posts)I'm not sure but I think it may be that he called her and she drove him back, but I don't know for sure and, like you, have not been able to find reports that clarify the question. I also didn't realize he lived so close to Kenosha, each place very near the state line.
So, for now, I will drop the assertion about his mother driving him.

(90,793 posts)Barker gained a reputation as a ruthless crime matriarch who controlled and organized her sons' crimes. J. Edgar Hoover described her as "the most vicious, dangerous, and resourceful criminal brain of the last decade". She has been presented as a monstrous mother in films, songs, and literature. However, those who knew her insisted that she had no criminal role and also allege that Hoover created such accusations in order to excuse the FBI for her subsequent death in a shootout in 1935.
Lets just say this is the first time I ever heard about her soft side.
Anyhoo, when I read about some of those mother-son duos at the 1/6 Insurrection, my mind turned immediately to Ma Barker and her boys.

(13,130 posts)...a judge ordered Rittenhouse to have no contact with known white supremacists after he was seen drinking in a bar in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, and posing for a photo with two men who made hand gestures used by white supremacists. Prosecutors also alleged men at the tavern serenaded Rittenhouse with the anthem of the Proud Boys, a neo-fascist group. The legal drinking age in Wisconsin is 21 but Rittenhouse could legally drink alcohol because he was with his mother.

(3,282 posts)I wrote somewhere, here or Twitter (IDK), that it looked like he had come where specifically to take hostages etc. I really pegged him as one of the most dangerous members of the group.....then I got to looking and learning more about him and came to find out he was just one of the dumbest.
That started to come together when I first saw the picture of him helping his mom up the stairs inside the building and then later when he managed to get himself photographed at the hotel with his mask off and all the rest of his gear still on. He was one of the first people to be publicly ID'd, because he's really stupid.
That doesn't mean he wasn't dangerous too, but who brings their mom to the revolution?

(14,998 posts)a taser is a "deadly or dangerous weapon."
Because the DOJ would never fail to apply the law uniformly... ( )
So, for instance, when there are any regulations, training, oversight, or potential prosecutions/civil rights lawsuits of cops/agents using/misusing tasers, that would always be handled consistent with the position that tasers are, categorically, a "deadly or dangerous weapon," right? RIGHT?

(14,998 posts)is apocryphal. The guy who died of the heart attack during the Capitol assault did not taser himself in the junk while trying to steal/remove a portrait of Tip O'Neal (or something like that), which was the tweet from some wise-ass/comedian on Twitter said, only to have it picked up and spread by all manner of social media/news.
Snopes has a debunk article. Just Google snopes, taser, and balls.

They probably wanted to then march them to the gallows that were erected outside for public executions.
