Got two weather alerts on my phone.
Flash flooding. Until 9 pm.
And storms.
The sky outside my window is really dark and ominous.
Take shelter and don't go out unless you have to.
I live in Harford co.maryland.

(65,168 posts)We got alerted to a high wind, possibly tornadic storm, with high potential for lightening strikes.
I went out to the garage and prepped everything, including running the main cords to power the kitchen, rec room, utility room, and kitchen.
I was 10 seconds from being done when the power went out. I pulled the generator outside, started it, and had the power on within a couple minutes.
Both fridges, freezer, TVs, lamps, etc.
Power was out around 9 hours, and because of that alert, we went 2 minutes without power. And I was able to do almost all the set up without working in the dark.

(65,168 posts)BTW: my story happened last summer. Your OP reminded me of it.
Solar panels would be a killer cost for us.
Not the panels & power wall itself, but we'd have to cut down 5 trees, at least 60 years old and 40 feet tall.
We'd be looking at $60,000 minimum just for the trees. The panels would cost around $35k.
We'd have to take a mortgage for nearly 40% of what the house is worth. A 15 year mortgage starting when we're in our mid 60s seems silly.
I wish it weren't so.

(12,480 posts)Sad you can't get solar.
I live in HUD housing. When I lived in a house my mom owned and took care of it would have been impossible to get solar panels too.
