Question has anyone been asked to present their proof of vaccine to employer.

I’m pinch hitting as a Union steward as our one steward is out on fmla reason his wife is unfortunately a Covid long haul suffer but she survived and that’s awesome. On proof of vax i did so voluntarily a picture of my cdc card by email to safety director.

Yet we have fear of big brother amongst the Union ranks that it will become company policy down the road and if you are not vaccinated you do not work, what started this fear is somebody posted on the information board a article that companies should Allow employees vaccination on company time and the Q platoon members interpreted the article into a shit house rumor , the article actually read workplace vaccinations, to allow employees to get it on company time and we do.

So I been trying to calm the Qanon branch fears at my local terminal , and playing Union steward I take care of my people always my mantra I’m with the worker. Yet this one I’m really pro vax in my response to the friends coworkers, I try to be rational in talking I point out the reason I’m pinch hitting as Union steward, is that our regular stew is out due to his dear wife and Covid. Or I’ll point out after my first vaccine I caught the shit and for about twelve days I felt like I had a terrible hangover.

So in my thought if it comes to mandatory vaccines to work. If it comes down to it I will represent these people in a fight not to receive the vaccine and still work I know it makes no sense to those of us yet I’m Union never side with the company, yet I’m dealing with individuals who believe in conspiracy theories and Qanon is their church and trumpig is the messiah , I told business agent if this happens I’m kicking every single Qanon grievance to you so you can earn your cash. I’m sitting in on grievance today , nothing major just the usual Union / company fight, yet afterwards going to sit with business agent and I think one Union lawyer who we have to start putting together a argument of fools if it comes down to mandatory vaccination , gonna be long day take care and have good day to Du community and those that you love.

mandate vaccines. Exemptions are allowed for "deeply held" religious beliefs and medical reasons.

Religious reasons ... Wonder if everyone will become a Witness.

Medical reason, friend had a bad reaction from October flu shot and was told by her physician to not get the vaccine.

But, EEOC released a memorandum saying requiring the COVID vaccine would not violate any regulations they enforce.
For those with reasons clearly covered under ADA, reasonable accommodation still applies.
But those situations should be rare.

It’s a first of a kind vaccine that is not approved by the FDA. So many people have gone through hell over the last year and now we want every single citizen to take this vaccine that is not approved by the FDA.

Yes, I got the vaccine. I did my research and asked my doctor. There are still questions none of us can answer about the vaccine. Vaccine hesitancy has to be understood and it’s not all Q and conspiracy theories. There are legitimate concerns.

I will never force my employees to take a non-approved vaccine in order to maintain employment under these circumstances. I will strongly suggest they get it.

The whole conversation might change with me once the vaccine is approved. That said I even doubt that as we are looking at over seventy percent of the adult population being vaccinated.

Sorry folks. Covid is forever a part of life including the countless variants that will come about. Covid is about to turn from a winning message for us to a losing message. By turning I mean like now. Push the vaccine to friends and family and move forward.

and courts HAVE upheld the legality of employers to require vaccination. Sorry, but there are bigger issues than the hurt feelings of conspiracy nuts. As a primary HCW who has seen far more than her share of avoidable death this year, including colleagues trying to save the lives of others, I am out of F...ks to give over this idiocy.

The vaccine is not approved.

I made no legal argument. That addition of yours is a fallacy.

I also have zero concern if you hurt the feelings of “conspiracy nuts.”

Being out of fucks has little to no real world consequences. Feel free to require your employees to be vaccinated. It’s a personal employer position, as you highlighted.

given full approval of the vaccines and have either fully vaccinated their entire population or are on their way to do so. Is that not enough regulatory approval for you? Most of these countries have higher standards for their food than we do.

It is not FDA approved.

The cornerstone of what you bring forward is a fallacy.

This sentence defies logic as a reply to what I wrote.

“ Is that not enough regulatory approval for you?”

I don’t mind debate but I have no interest in unethical debate tactics(fallacies) or debating someone who clearly didn’t read all of what they replied to.

We have an on-site clinic with doctors and nurses. We can show proof of vaccination to them and we are allowed to work without a mask. Those that refuse can not be on site all the tome, wear a mask when they are and otherwise work remotely if their job allows for it

if we want to enter or work in the company office without a mask.

This, after spending a year to deny and downplay the reality of the pandemic.

I decline to submit my card, and I will continue to wear my mask, because I have seen that too many of my coworkers can’t be trusted to maintain safe, responsible behavior.

Yes, company can mandate post-FDA approval. Yes, the union has a responsibility to be defiant to company policies it deems overbearing.

I'd try and make the argument that this is a rare case of Common Ground.. the government is going to err on the side of private sector decision-making (instead of forced shots for all citizens), and THIS TIME the union happens to agree as it's about employee health and wellness, insurance stuff, etc.

Theres 2 ways to leash the invisible hand...big government, or unions and management WORKING TOGETHER. Tell the q-loons at work to try think of this, not so much as the hand bitch-slapping them, but offering them a rare handjob lol, on the argument that youd rather the company be giving the orders than the Big Ebil Gubmint. Not sure what kind of mileage you'll actually get out if it, but anything's better than having to keep making phone calls to the lawyers right?

(On Edit) personally, I cant wait till the day its company required to get, or keep, ones job. Almost half our clinical staff declined, despite the company paying for shots. Idiots. Part time job, one of the managers has already said hed quit rather than get his--fine nobody likes you anyway lol--but I promise he will raise all sorts of Cancel Culture Hell about it before he actually quits.

These people piss me off. I'm looking forward to hearing them yelp like hit dogs when the Hand slaps the fuck out of them.

Most of the unions fought for safety issues, including PPE. They are backing the vaccine as a safety issue.

Once it has full approval I don't see many unions taking up the antivaxxer fight unless it's religious or medical exemption. Even with those exemptions you can be moved from one area or position to another if not being vaccinated puts the member, their coworkers or customers/clients/patients at risk.

I've had late night calls from members, asking I'll be their steward if they refuse. I've already said once there is full approval they don't have a fight, nor should they. We've lost enough patients in the past year to covid. There is no reason to refuse and possibly contract and spread.

For those who will returning to the office on a voluntary basis after the July 4th holiday, my company made the decision that you must be vaccinated to do so, and you have to fill out a form about the vaccination.

They haven't made a decision yet whether vaccinations will be required of everyone for the overall return to the office in the fall.

They have said they will require vaccination for everyone to attend etc. in the fall. I have to forward my vaccination card info to a link. I am very happy to see that it’s about time. It’s only a matter of time before the vaccines become regular authorization and it should be required. If you’re not going to get vaccinated you don’t get to participate in education, employment and many other work environments and public places. Unless you have a valid medical excuse which most people don’t have. This will make a safer world for everyone. You don’t have the right to endanger others with your craziness about vaccinations. One of my father’s doctors also made a copy of his vaccination card at a recent appointment.
