Regardless, point taken. But, you can better believe come hell or high water, he'd be installed rather quickly given the state of our broken democracy.

The point is our democracy is almost shattered, maybe not completely but too close for comfort and just barely hanging by a thread.

That's how it feels, how it looks, and how events are rolling out on a daily basis.

What we need is a formidable response, a plan of action, and some level of unanimity/agreement on the state of affairs actually are, fact based and reality driven.

No pretending that a coup couldn't possibly happen here. Because now we know that was a pipe dream most of us had.

The big lesson on Jan 6th, 2021 demonstrated that in one day, following four + years (to include the year of campaigning in 2016);

We lived through five years of watching it all get gas lit, and burned down. Jan. 6th was the most profound, and it came very very close to a successful coup. It failed, but just.

If the takeaway is everything stayed in tact and we're good to move on, that's the wrong lesson.

Sociopaths are above the law, the laws of the land do not apply to them. When Sociopaths are part of a cult that has gained the level of traction, strength and support from Justice and the Military he and his followers/supporters/enablers, it's a foregone conclusion.

13. The inadequate response to the MAGA insurrection on 1/6 was partly Trump's doing...

If a similar assault is attempted, this administration will be ready.

Pelosi, Schumer & Pence were trying to summon reinforcements, but Trump stacked the deck to prevent a response. The Republican governor of Maryland tried to send the national guard, Trump’s guy at DOD wouldn’t approve it.

The ‘overthrow the government’ ship sailed when Trump exited Air Force one in Florida. Trump may be in federal prison in August.
