"SNIP.......

Former President Trump called a proposal that he run for the House in 2022 to try to win the speaker’s gavel “interesting,” The Hill reports.

“The logistics of a House run would be complicated for Trump, who would have to figure out what district to run in after the redistricting process is completed.”

running if his control over the GQP is so strong? Just sit back and wait for them to get the majority, then tell them to select him as Speaker.

If the GOP take the House in '22 they can vote Trump in as Speaker.

It's really that easy.

AND big bonus for the GOP, it probably stops him from running for POTUS in 2024.

... that Trump would willingly go from the presidency to speaker of the house?

Not a chance in hell. His ego would never accept that demotion, and the loss of power he wielded as POTUS.

It puts him in a position of power. Sure, it's a demotion, but he would not frame it that way.

And he could use it to get back in the media on a daily basis. Every time he speaks, the media would have to cover it, since he's the Speaker of the House.

Also puts him SECOND in line for the Presidency. He can use the position to GRIFT to his heart's content, and perhaps even mount a campaign for the Presidency.

And from the sound of it, he doesn't need to do a thing, other than wait for the repubs to take the House, and appoint him to the position. The only vote that will matter, is the vote from the Piece Of Shit representatives, who will gladly oblige by voting for him in a landslide, if given the opportunity.

His ego will never let him accept a demotion - and he knows that's what it would be, and he knows the media will frame it that way, over and over. No way he's going to subject himself to that humiliation.

He wants the presidency NOW. He's not interested in working his way towards it - he wants it handed to him RIGHT NOW, dammit!

"Once I was the King of Spain - now I work at Pizza-Pizza," is not a song that Trump will ever sing.

The media won't remind him of the demotion 'over and over'. And he wouldn't care if they did.

If the RePuQ's win back the House (decent chance) they could just make him Speaker, and he could control the House agenda. By fiat, nobody could do shit about it. That's a LOT of power.

He would then calculate it's a springboard for his 2024 presidential run.

There is a serious threat this could happen if you ask me.

... it would be a possibility.

But this is a narcissistic lunatic we're talking about. And yes, he would care if the media framed it as a demotion - because he knows that's exactly what it would be, and he knows that even many of his own diehard voters would see it that way.

I don't underestimate his desire for power - but his idea of power is the power he had as POTUS. He will never reconcile that loss with taking a position of much less power than he once had.

As we all know, Trump is not a think-ahead kind of guy. He doesn't look at the long-term benefits of playing the game wisely and well. He just wants to be declared the winner (e.g. "reinstatement as president&quot right now, without any of this "you can work back towards it" bullshit.

Besides, there is that elephant in the room all this discussion ignores: the GOP wants Trump gone. They don't want HIM - they want his voters. They're not about to go along with this idea any more than he is.

The position of Speaker of the House could, and probably would, be vastly different in tRump's hands. We can't presume the position would be unsatisfactory to him; he would make the position suitable to himself. He'd mold it into exactly whatever he wanted - rules, be damned - and no-one would have the balls to stop him. The power of the SOTH now is nothing like what it would be with tRumps seizing.

Would not caucus with them, become independents and possibly lose the majority over it because of resignations or party affiliation switching.

The 10 maybe more would be the 10 that voted to impeach him the second time around. He would make their lives so miserable they would have no choice...bring it!!
