1. What would that do in W Virginia?

Trump won 68.62 to Biden 32.1.

I don’t think Biden appealing to West Virginia voters would hold much sway.

2. Biden has a grass roots appeal that these folks would love

Trump made them a bunch promises that he never kept. Biden is actually diving in and providing real help in a lot of different ways.

and explained his proposals he would get a good reception and some would come over to his side. Explaining that he’s not planning on taking all their guns and that he’s not going to restrict their right to worship would go a long way. So many of these folks just hear the republican talking points.

Showing up there and speaking to those folks on their turf would mean a lot.

one of few states that went for Mike Dukakis in 1988? And that was 20 years after the "Southern Strategy" flipped many traditionally blue states to red.

The underlying point is that the post I responded to suggested that Biden drag Manchin back to WV and use his "grassroots appeal" to convince voters to pressure Manchin to go along with the Democratic Leadership's policy positions. In TODAY's WV, that's not going to happen.

So many of these folks just hear the republican talking points. There might be enough support for Biden’s proposals that Manchin could easily support them. Stranger things have happened.

margin for Trump of any state. But I will say this. President Obama campaigned in all 50 states thanks to a contested primary...it was close in 08-way closer than 16. Also, Howard Dean ran a 50 state campaign for the Senate and the House. And that is what needs to happen again.
