It is such a partisan issue, we should help their Senators by removing those funds. It will help them when they speak to their fiscally conservative republican constituents.

Hes not going to switch parties- he has filed for re-election and cant win the GOP primary.

(18,486 posts)Among other things, the Senate no longer has earmarks, which allowed the president, party leadership and committee chairs to mete out funding based on who did and didn't play ball. Funding is allocated mostly through formula.
That power no longer exists - largely as a result of people demanding that earmarks be eliminated because they weren't fair ...
