With the lives of their constituents? They dont care if people cant feed their children. They dont care that people cant afford or do not have access to healthcare. They dont care that 2 people need 2 or 3 jobs each to raise a family?
Bipartisanship doesnt mean 100 people in a governing body, it means a plurality of the country. Its been a nice little experiment, shameful what has been allowed to happen to it.

(10,624 posts)I see the vast majority of Democrats attempting to pass legislation that would make a real difference.
My family got $5600 from the American Rescue Plan Act. Lots of other people got even more help than that.
We have already achieved far more for the American People that I originally thought would be possible when President Biden was elected. (And my Georgia Dems deserve much of the credit for that!)

(10,624 posts)We have already done so.
If you want to harp on that one issue, I pretty much agree with you. But that is a far cry from your OP, that speaks of being "unconcerned with the lives of their constituents."

(10,624 posts)We're attempting to extend the extra child credits we just passed a few months ago. Families will start receiving montly payments of the additional credits this July.
This Administration is accomplishing more than anyone realistically had a right to expect.
Yes, there are a few dead-weight Democrats who aren't helping. But they are few, and they mostly come from districts that a liberal or progressive would have a hard time winning anyway.

(32,864 posts)Republicans. The offer from republicans on Infrastructure was rejected by President Biden. Republicans are not serious and everyone knows it. Im tired of brining a butter knife to and AK-47 fight. McConnell said he will block EVERYTHING. Manchin is his ace in the hole.
dawg
(10,624 posts)complete partisan gridlock. Never in a million years did I expect my state to elect two Democratic Senators in a runoff election.
We will get more things accomplished and they will help millions of Americans. Will the help be diminished because of Manchin and Sinema? Yes. But that won't stop lots of good things from happening.

(10,624 posts)Senators from Georgia.
Had we not won those seats, Manchin would be irrelevant.
And, for what it's worth, I don't believe the new Georgia law gives the legislature the right to overturn an election, but many Republican state legislators in different states all across the country already claim they have that right. This is why we need to focus on unseating as many Republican state legislators as we can.
Taking back state houses is how we finally bring this long national nightmare to an end.

(32,864 posts)The next election is 2022. We could lose the house per senate or both. So we dont have 2 years. The only thing gotten done so far is the rescue plan. We need to get the voting rights and infrastructure or we are fucked.
dawg
(10,624 posts)If we hold the House and pickup two seats in the Senate, we can probably get voting rights in 2023. It'll be a hard pull but not impossible.
All we have to do is to show up like we did in 2020.
They'll make voting harder, but I'd crawl over broken glass to vote against these Republicans, and I think many of us feel the same.

(32,864 posts)If we just get the majority we will do A,B, C. The problem is some senators were not honest about their lack of support on many of those policies.

(8,759 posts)Bitching people will not take minimum paying jobs because of the $300 giveaway.
They would rather take government money, sit on their asses and do nothing.
That sounds more like congress to me. Why get a job you actually have to work at when you can get $175,000+-, to sit on your ass, do nothing but be a puppet for billionaires with perks no working person would ever imagine.
Instead of cutting the $300 unemployment for poor folks, lets cut congressional pay down to working people levels, say $40,000 a year, without insurance and the ability to be fired for lies, theft and no fucking NOT working. That would draw in people that know how to actually work and care about folks in their situation.

(6,636 posts)Wisconsin here. We had Sean Duffy (ugh) and now Tom Tiffany (puke) for Congress, in what was Dave Obey's district before 2010 fine-tooth-comb gerrymandering done in secret by expensive law firm (yep, paid by taxpayers) for GQP majority in legislature (during Scott Walker's reign). They don't care. They don't have to. They keep getting re-elected regardless of what they do (or not) for their constituents.
Also, our state assembly representative Swearingen and state senator Felskowski don't care about us. They did NOTHING to fight Covid, just obstruct our excellent Governor Evers at every turn. And pass voter-suppression and anti-trans kids bills and screw our public schools. Their aides don't even listen to our calls or emails anymore, let alone respond.
Finally, all Senator MoRon Johnson cares about is whether he'll be primaried by an even crazier Q-tip (if that is possible) in 2022.
On the bright side, WisDems have never been more fired up and ready to go!
